That was my first thought.

I don't care who it is, I'm not really one for stadium gigs. Give me a practise session in somewhere pokey any day.

Exactly, same as the last few , will get tickets for the wembley as a fallback but we were really spoiled for warmups , hopefully it will be the same , managed to get to goldsmiths for the 2009 one, then Newcastle , and wolves for 2012 , lets hope we get similar

Seems like a really odd choice of venue for Blur... Saying that though, I'm pleased they're not playing Hyde Park again. Also, I'm assuming this will be another nostalgia based string of shows rather than in support of new music..?

Considering Hyde Park 2015 didn't sell out, I wouldn't be surprised if this doesn't.

Any idea of the ticket prices? Def Leppard + Motley Crue at Wembley Stadium next summer is all-seating and front row is £347.

NME are reporting it's their only UK date of 2023. Perhaps the warm up shows will be in Europe or maybe the NME are wrong (wouldn't be the first time)

Nothing in the email to suggest it's the only one, warm ups seem likely, but as you say no guarantee they would be in the UK

I'm dreading the prices. Especially if they go down the corporate golden circle route.

Genuinely quite surprising. Definitely better than Hyde Park. But what's the goal or purpose of this kind of mega gig? As much money as possible for as little commitment? Is it making a statement about the size and status of the band? "we are now huge, and you the UK and European fans, will come to us"?

It sounds to me like a pretty big venue for blur to fill. But whoever is gorillaz agent for live gigs seems to have a great grasp of what is and isn't possible. I assume the same people are involved here. And one - off gigs can drive demand. Just an an example, a few years ago soft cell slightly implausibly sold out the o2 with a one off "Farewell" gig that loads of fans across UK, Europe and even the US travelled to.
