Very nice and down to earth...you wouldn't know he was a bit of a pop star. Well he's not really is he, but yeah. Nice lad.

That's awesome though...... I've seem them in concert twice (both times in small venues) and they seemed like a solid bunch of individuals.....
Going back to Talk Talk...how did all of you become interested in them in the first place? For me it was just seeing them on MTV all throughout the 80s.....

I love how I always set out to play a few songs from The Colour of Spring but end up playing the entire thing. Like just then for the umpteenth time.

Yup brilliant album, just wish they had kind of repeated that formula and made a couple more albums in the same ilk...then again Hollis never stayed in one place...AdvertBreak wrote:I love how I always set out to play a few songs from The Colour of Spring but end up playing the entire thing. I rewrote the entire Wiki page for Laughing Stock
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laughing_Stock_(album" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;)
It was tiny, now it's not

Played The Colour Of Spring in full again today on my new speakers...from 1986 and simply fresh as a daisy, Living In Another World just blows me away, and Time It's Time seems to be Hollis singing goodbye to the mainstream with the best 3 min outro you will ever hear.
The most overlooked band of the 80s more than ever, why oh why did Mark Hollis not love the dollar lol, we would have had more albums from him like this, but then I guess that was the whole point.

RIP to a music legend, his music with Talk Talk transformed my music taste back in 1990 when I bought the best of, led me on to Blur etc.
Truly underrated, thankfully the music will live on forever.

Just want to say, these past 20 hours have been the worst. The absolute worst. But he'll never be forgotten, not with music like that.

Exactly, seems surreal he's gone, always hoped we would hear something from him again, but not even an interview since 1998...his music spoke for itself and even with no publicity still has such a big following.AdvertBreak wrote: ↑26 Feb 2019, 14:06Just want to say, these past 20 hours have been the worst. Re: Talk Talk Thread
Yes I never bought the albums, but I liked the best known hit singles. And they have had a longevity - you still hear them now.
The band always struck me as on the cusp of greater things.
Again, was it a case of the indifferent late 80s music scene being wrong for them?
Though they also had a litigious split from a record company at a critical time in their progress, which often does not help.
R.I.P. Mark Hollis.
