Does anyone know who compiled Blur: The Best Of?
Whoever put this CD together nailed it. Do we know who it was? Graham?
I see Chemical world, Sunday Sunday and Stereotypes as second tier Blur songs and it's interesting none of them made the Best Of. It's also interesting that there's a single edit of There's No Other Way, but the full length versions of Tender and For Tomorrow are on there - presumably at the expense of a Stereotypes or a Chemical World.
"Fan fave" This Is A Low also makes it, changing it from "the singles" to a more legitimate "best of".
I'm actually not a huge fan of the recorded version of Popscene so I don't miss it. I think the Peel Acres version is terrific but it would have been weird to include a ragged live song.

EMI did - with the help of market researchers and focus groups consisting of Blur fans.

But there is no Sing. There is no Sing so it can't be right.

Funnily enough I was reading through one of the fan club Blurbs on the weekend covering the Greatest Hits and interviews with the band on the selection, and I think the band couldn’t seem to agree on the track listing so yes it was put out to the fans and the record company. I remember it coming out assuming the band wouldn’t be a big fan of the idea of a Best Of but each spoke pretty positively on it. I still think Midlife was more of a fan Best Of.

Best Of is pretty good, but I've always thought Midlife is more representative - I wonder who compiled this one?
I put me trousers on, have a cup of tea, and think about leaving the house...

I know what you mean and it is a good idea to choose 'This Is A Low' ahead of them. Though I also take jonathas point about 'Sing' being excluded.

Chemical World AND Sing should both have been on. Throw "No Distance Left to Run" in the bin
I can't wear that, stupid rain hat

I do think it is a Great best of (first Blur album I owned) but do not agree with lack of Modern Life Is Rubbish tracks. I also think "This Is A Low" is overrated however I see it's importance.
I recently took the Best of and kept all the tracks whilst adding stuff from MLIR, Think Tank, and The Magic Whip. What do you guys think of my order.
1) Beetlebum
2) Song 2
3) There's No Other Way
4) Go Out
5) The Universal
6) Out Of Time
7) Coffee and Tv
8) Lonesome Street
9) Parklife
10) End Of A Century
11) No Distance Left To Run
12) Tender
13) Good Song
If this would be two CDs
14) Girls and Boys
15) Ong Ong
16) Charmless Man
17) She's So High
18) Country House
19) Sunday Sunday
20) To The End
21) Chemical World
22) On Your Own
23) This Is A Low
24) For Tomorrow
25) Music Is My Radar
I didn't add Crazy Beat cause I know band isn't fond of it. Thought about Fools Day, Under The Westway , and Popscene but decided to not have these one off singles. Only one I'm iffy on is if I should Get rid Of "Lonesome Street" and replace with "Ghostship".

This ignoring of Popscene is alarming!
Blew me away when I first heard it, and the studio version is perfect...Never Clever on the other hand which was going to be the follow up, the studio version is all wrong...

Re: Does anyone know who compiled Blur: The Best Of?
Whilst I agree with many of those choices Putting Lonesome Street in or Ong Ong feels entirely wrong to me. I'm not really sure Blur have released enough since the last 2 compilations to justify another greatest hits set and in the days of streaming I'm not sure there's that much demand for it.
Re: Does anyone know who compiled Blur: The Best Of?
Does not do justice to Blur's superbly rich catalogue but as a commercially successful compilation it does its job.
