BLUR LIVE @ Africa Express: The Circus!

Post by aldamasta » 13 Feb 2019, 16:21

The first artists have finally been announced, and it sounds amazing! I am 100% grabbing tickets -- anyone else here thinking about it? Can't think of a better way to spend the 29th of March...
Inside a big top circus tent on Wanstead Flats, the southernmost part of Epping Forest in Leytonstone, artists including Batida, Damon Albarn, Django Django, Ellie Rowsell (Wolf Alice), Gruff Rhys, Imarhan, Joan As Police Woman, Mista Silva, Moonchild Sanelly, Morena Leraba, Muzi, Onipa, Rokia Traoré, Sibot and The Good, The Bad & The Queen will unite for a joyous, one-off live performance in the heart of Waltham Forest.

Is this just a bunch of songs where African musicians and Anglo ones play together? Ellie Rowsell would be cool to see. Not sure how a Good, The Bad & The Queen gig is a one-off though.

Oh no! Did they sell out quickly? I managed to grab some around 15 minutes after they went on sale, but I nearly forgot too.

And I'm staying in London, around Clerkenwell! I'd love to meet up. I hope you can find tickets somehow! If not, there's always the Palladium gig.

I assume it will be like a mix between how the 2012 concerts were and the 2015 5 hour long Roskilde gig. An eclectic mix of performers doing original songs, covers, whatever else. I'm hoping they'll do On Melancholy Hill like they did in 2012 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sXtqyEht2w4.

And I don't think they're calling The Good the Bad and the Queen a "one off", I think it's just referring to the collective/event at large as a one off event.

Has anyone seen any tickets available online through stubhub or some other resellers? My ticket already arrived. I know some folks who missed out and are still trying to get tickets, and just wondered if there’s been any luck amongst anyone on the forum yet!

Tonight's the night! All of the rehearsal videos I've seen on twitter and instagram are getting me very excited. Gonna be an amazing 5 hours! And then I'm gonna go over to club starshaped for their 25th anniversary celebration of Parklife till 3 am... I may be dead after today :P

Anyone else going?
