Weezer doing Coldplay, huh?
The song could be alrightish, but the chorus is ruining it IMO. Hopefully it is just a one-off single, which doesn't show the true direction for the band (Black Album, remember?)

What song or I don't dare check it out?
Consigliere_11, you're serious? Weezer doing Coldplay? No thanks!

Hmmmm...thanks for sharing... but lord...I hope this doesn't necessarily represent what the "Black Album" is going to be....What a tremendous regression from the superb "White Album"......Everything about "I Love the USA" is very horrible...I even prefer the track Rivers provided to the Monkees over this abomination as well!

I love the USA
I love the USA
Fuck yeah this place is great
I love the USA
is the shittiest chorus of all time, even by Rivers' 2000s standards,
but the way its sung almost as if its autotuned, with the modern boy band ballad screech, and the entire song's monotonous boy band ballad electronic background
WHY

I know. It's downright embarrassing, one of their worst songs ever. And I'd say Rivers' voice is definitely autotuned

At least the solo is cool.
I don't think the Black Album will sound like this though. Apparently they just asked him to write a song and he recorded it in a few days while touring, so hopefully it'll just be a one-off.

Oh...I certainly hope it's a one-off and I do agree regarding the solo..... In terms of the "Black Album", I hope that references that this will be a much darker album hence the title...that would be the ideal progression from the "White Album"...the most natural one!

To switch gears a little bit from that awful single, I listened to and quite enjoyed the bonus track "Prom Night" from the White Album

Could be on the album!

Thanks for sharing...definitely has quite a bit of the first two albums written over it! Yeah... lets again just hope/pray/wish that the most recent single was a result of Rivers not having enough time to construct anything of substance!

Not a huge fan of Prom Night. It's terrible lyrically and I don't think it goes anywhere melody-wise. I like the ending though, it sounds a bit like Maladroit Weezer.

Why is Island in the Sun a bonus track on Maladroit? I've never understood.

Honestly I've no idea, and it's only on the European and Australian releases. It's 00s Weezer so it's obvious they were trying to capitalise on their biggest recent single but I don't think nobody's ever assumed responsibility for that. I don't think it was Rivers though, he basically didn't give a shit about Maladroit's final tracklist.

Weezer are coming to Singapore this 15th of August... I wish I can go see them in person so bad. Unfortunately, I live in the Philippines.

I'm honestly amazed that it took Pinkerton so long to go platinum. I mean I knew it didn't sell when it came out but holy shit, it's been twenty years! Anyway I'm sure somewhere in heaven 1996 Rivers is smiling at this.
