Anyone getting ffs in should buy it from rough trade because you get a bonus album called "collaborations do work" as a bonus I guess

Another great B-side from that time was L.Wells, they really stepped it up with their B-sides at that time.TripleJay97 wrote:Anyone who hasn't already heard 'Wine in the Afternoon' needs to listen to it. Its a B-side from the You Could Have it So Much Better period and it's one of my favourite songs ever.
I have to disagree with you sorry that they were the best band of the 00's, I thought after their perfect debut album and one of the best singles of the last 20 years in Take Me Out things got quite patchy with the band.
You Could Have It So Much Better has a few nice songs on it but nothing that came close to the singles from the first album (although the Fallen is Classic), Tonight Franz Ferdinand had some great singles and Right Thoughts, Right Words, Right Action was a good step up after the last two so-so efforts. I do agree that they are a great live act and their greatest hits will be a classic collection when its released. I do like what I hear with FFS so far though.
I would put them down as one of those acts that didn't quite deliver on their early promise.

Nah, You Could Have it So Much Better is fantastic in my opinion. It has a good energy to it and a lot of variety, even if it's not a 'singles' album. I think Tonight appeals to me the least, a lot of the songs just don't get me like their earlier stuff did, Twilight Omens and Send Him Away for example. They're just a bit boring. RTRWRA is flawless.

I must say this meeting of talents that is FFS has impressed me.
The song got into my sub-conscience via 6Music without me knowing who was involved.

Being Sparks, it had to be like that. I am tempted by it.
We need something 'left of centre' like that in the present music climate.

Franz Ferdinand are one of those bands that I didn't care much for initially, but at some point later on I started listening to them and got hooked. Their last two albums are my favorite, can't really choose between them. RTRWRA is indeed flawless, but Tonight has some fantastic hits in Ulysses and Lucid Dreams. I was never a fan of YCHISMB, though. After Walk Away the album gets very generic, and save for a few tracks it sounds very same-y.

Thinking about it now, only the hit singles from YCHISMB remain in my mind.

I really like Well That Was Easy as well, mainly for the sweetness of the verses.

Re: Franz Ferdinand
I once saw them live a few years ago (and they opened for Green Day of all bands).... They performed only four songs, but were definitely splendid and I hope to see them headline a gig some time!
