Re: Blur Survivor: THE MAGIC WHIP (Round 7)
I wish I could see the brilliance of Pyongyang, it threatens to soar into an emotional epic but never does, it barely has a proper finish either, and pales compared to proper emotional Blur songs like The Universal, To The End, This Is A Low and even Young And Lovely...

I'll admit the studio version probably never matched the intensity of the live version, but it's still a damn good song.Sledge Hammer wrote:I wish I could see the brilliance of Pyongyang, it threatens to soar into an emotional epic but never does, it barely has a proper finish either, and pales compared to proper emotional Blur songs like The Universal, To The End, This Is A Low and even Young And Lovely...
It's probably a classic case of the downside of hearing the live version before the studio version, but they are both good in their own way.

i agree its never soars and never really comes close, it never hits the heights you wish it would, in the way No distance/battery in ur leg do
however, despite its short comings it still remains the standout track on the magic whip
