Re: There Are Too Many Of Us
Hi everyone, I'm new to your forum. I'd like to get a quick word in and say that I think 'There Are Too Many of Us' is the best thing I've heard from Blur since 'Beetlebum', if only for its capacity to sound like something we'd never have previously expected from them. I saw this band five times when I was a bit younger, and teach kids of 14-18 overseas who have a surprising amount of interest in Blur as some kind of college rock, alternative thing, and I love any excuse to indoctrinate them with Blur lyrics. When I heard this song, and what he's saying, I thought 'oh, there's a class written for me, cheers boys'.
I hope you guys don't mind me butting in on your discussion, it's been great to see all the excitement building up these past few weeks. The one thing I'd add is that I hope the new album doesn't feel like a standalone 'comeback' album, which only really makes sense if you judge it apart from its predecessors. From what I've heard they're still very much at the cutting edge and that won't be the case at all.
For those who saw the gig, is there anything of the remotely Kinks-esque Blur? Even a 'Look Inside America' would make my day. I played 'End of a Century' to a class last year and they thought it was revolutionary.

Welcome to the forum! As regards your question, pop into the secret gig thread. One of the boys posted a link to a recording of the gig there, so you can decide yourself.

Yep, just chose some I thought matched the the song titles. The block of flats I chose because they are similar to the ones shown in the side bars of the TATMOU video. He's So High wrote:Wow! I'm guessing the photos you've used for 'There Are Too Many of Us' and 'Lonesome Street' aren't Blur related, but you just thought they'd be appropriate?

I agree too! I got excited when I saw them as I thought Blur might have announced some proper singles with B-Side/s.

Has anyone noticed a slight buzzing on the recording during the song? Just before the acoustic guitar comes in. I'm thing it's the amp from the acoustic or something like that.

Yes. I was listening to it through my earphones earlier and thought my earphones were buzzing or something. My Name Is Mud wrote:Has anyone noticed a slight buzzing on the recording during the song? B-Sides are a relic of the past, sadly, as are singles as chart entries.

Wow, I checked this site while putting off important tasks (as I often do), only to find a new Blur track out of nowhere!
And it's good one, too!
I liked Go Out, but this one really surprised me. Damon's should change his middle name to "melancholy," he's so good at it. I love the synths, love the small interlude, and I think the no-chorus structure works better here than it did with "Under the Westway."
I had a huge grin on my face through the entire video. I can't wait for the album now.

gave it a few more listens and i changed my mind
its a decent album track but still not good enough to be single and is still pretty poor compared to the older Blur
7.5/10
its better than going out to the loooooocawwwllllll
