One thing that I think might be worth bearing in mind when assessing the chances of future Blur is just what Damon does with the type of songs that previously would have been heading to TGTB&TQ. That band is over now, presumably, and Gorillaz seems more pop than ever - so I do think there's hope that Damon will find his next batch of minor chord, waltz-time ballads will revive his interest in Blur.
I was surprised to hear a rumour that TGTBTQ might actually not be over, with Femi stepping in on drums. May prove to be wildly inaccurate mind, but was something I heard from somebody I trust.
Oh god please no. You can’t just replace Tony. There ain’t no GBQ without him. Save those songs for blur instead Damon!

As I say, only a rumour. While I trust the person who told me entirely, I have no idea who told her. On top of that there's the fact that most things are fairly subject to change when it comes to Damon projects. I didn't get any sense that anything from TGTBTQ was likely to happen soon, just that the project wasn't necessarily over.

Thinking about it a bit more, those are lovely songs and there'd be no reason to object to Damon, Simon and Paul playing them again, as TGTB&TQ if they want to. Daft to consign two albums worth of songs to the dustbin. So I'd have no problems with new shows featuring Femi or similar.
But another record would feel like an odd decision to me.

I agree there's no problem playing them live. I thought Damon's solo band last year did a wonderful job playing Poison Tree live, just wonderful. Of course that band included Femi and Simon. I think the two GBQ records are two of Damon's masterpieces, so I hope they continue to be played.

If they really do play again I swear this time I will fly to wherever in the world to see them. I know a lot of you have seen Blur endless times, but I've still never had the chance. seen Gorillaz 4 times but still never Blur despite being a superfan since middle school. I regret not flying out last time during Magic Whip. They're one of my last bucket list bands to see.

I feel the same. I often question why I haven't made the effort to see them since Hyde Park 2009....

OK, yeah OK lol, I was 2 years off, and 2 dates short. But I still called this
Basically I'm clasping at some sort of victory haha.
In less narcissistic musings, I hope we all get to see the boys at some point over the summer.
Much love

I actually meant to go back and refer to that thread, as I was somewhat scornful/dismissive and meant to tip my hat.
I had heard a similar rumour (don't think it got more specific than "playing Wembley" from a couple of people at the Edinburgh show last winter, but thought with new Gorillaz, plans must have changed.
I wouldn't necessarily rule out a second night at Wembley just yet, not saying they definitely will, but huge numbers in the online queue - of course bots/multiple devices play a part.
Hope everyone who wants a ticket managed to get/gets a ticket.

My head canon is that Themongoose willed this reunion into existence single-handedly. And yes new album too!!

Really excited to see if any of these rumors of new music are true. If they are, I suspect Damon and co. might wait for the new Gorillaz album to release before fully shifting into Blur hype mode. Just a thought.

Yes and it's a bit like 2012/13 with a headline tour and Graham's and Damon's solo gigs. Another re-release of Parklife would be unnecessary, new stuff would be interesting and hopefully more continental gigs as well.

Good points. Yeah, no way any blur music would even be teased before 3 of the members release their solo efforts. And no need for the re-release of Parklife, unless it’s part of a broader reissuing, which definitely needs to happen. 13 vinyl reissue is one of the biggest wants of blur fans.
Makes you wonder though if there’s anything concrete to do with the music before the rehearsals, or if they were planning on having some studio time as they gear up for properly being blur again. If Alex and Dave are to be believed, they were never 100% sure Wembley was happening. And the boys have apparently only been rehearsing this month. Makes me think new music (if it exists) probably isn’t more than a demo at this point. Perhaps still on Damon’s iPad
