Damons acting debut
I'm sure I read years ago that Damon made his big screen acting debut in The Fourth Protocol in 1987.
Having never seen it I recorded it on Talking Pictures last night, but I couldn't spot him anywhere.
Any ideas?

Hmm, I always thought his debut was on Face. If that's true, he was probably some extra who might have appeared for half a second. No credit whatsoever on IMDb.

I bought face just to see damon in it, I remember him getting some bad reviews even though he was barely In it lol
Haven't watched it for years, might have to dig it out, recall thinking Damon looked quite tall in it, random comment

Just had a quick look on youtube as strangely I knew of Face but I've never seen it.
I mean they didn't really give him a great part did they...it's almost like they didn't want him there

I watched Face when I was at the height of my 16 year old girl 'Damon Albarn is the most beautiful man on the planet' phase - he looked great in the film, but he was an awful actor in it.
Robert Carlyle really carried it (as he does most things he's in) but it was a relatively unimpressive film generally.

Re: Damons acting debut
I'd describe his performance as passable. They clearly cast a famous pop star to help market the film to a younger audience.
The trouble is, he was playing a teenage kid but he was about 29 at the time. Damon's natural speaking voice is quite deep and for some reason he made his voice higher to suit his younger character. And it doesn't really work. Plus he's sharing the screen with Ray Winstone and Robert Carlyle. Two of the best actors of their generation. Good luck with that!
