Turns out they added another time slot that works for me! Can't wait!

I personally wouldn't mind seeing Damon's contented face 😆

I'm looking forward to a film about the music! The reviewer obviously wanted a Gorillaz cartoon, but it was never billed as such...

I dunno he kinda says that from the start. Weird that Jamie Hewlett doesn't really feature in the film

I'm surprised it has a cinema release of any kind tbh. Can't see any auditorium outside a Premier being more than around 2/5 full at best. It's at least 10 years too late. Of course for us fans, it's a nice treat... Maybe. The lack of Hewlett makes me utter the phrase.. Oh dear Damon, is this you or Gorillaz

pretty simular to the other review, I think I've become accustom to Gorillaz being more about collaboration fronted by Damon Albarn than a cartoon band. The cartoon band could have been bloody brilliant but the 'live' real band is pretty good aswell.

I didn't realize so many people (maybe mostly journalists that don't follow Gorillaz too closely) expected this to be so focused on the animation side. Based on reviews, I do think it's a bit of a bummer Jamie doesn't receive more air time - that's a bit odd. But Jamie has repeatedly said a Gorillaz cartoon is in the works, and this film was meant to document mainly the tours and relevant shenanigans of the past few years, so I am not bothered by a lack of the characters. I always imagined Gorillaz' tours must be bonkers and loads of fun, so I look forward to the insight!

i have not seen it yet but it should have at least 40% art/animation. It's interesting and it is an art in itself. The music videos are hugely important to Gorillaz and some of the later videos have been very impressive (saturns bars, that happy sunshine rollerskating one also) I'd love to know the process for these

If anyones on the fence about going tonight GET A TICKET! It was so fun - definitely something I think anyone here would enjoy.

Notes:
Not suitable for anyone trying to quit smoking
I cried during Cloud Of Unknowing (as usual)
Damon is a stupid idiot and I love him
Essentially a movie about Damon travelling the world with his friends and making music
Vince Staples is crazy talented
My boyfriend who is a filler fan said it was ok (but he also called Graham 'Brian Saxton' so who knows if I respect his opinion or not)

It was a bit of a miss for me. Nice to see the footage but probably would not watch again. You could tell it was edited by a kid XD it made me think of what 'Thierry Guetta's original documentary edit for Banksy would have been like. A bunch of random clips :D
The best bit for me was the one scene where Damon is writing stuff for the NOW NOW and jamie is sat close by drawing.

I wonder if the cinema release of this is some kind of contractual obligation to justify Jamie's son being on tour with them? Seems really odd he has just made a standard tour film given the rather unique access he has to Jamie. I agree with the poster above who said there should have been focus placed on how they made the videos for Saturnz Barnz and Humility (not least the funding from YouTube, and the involvement of Jack Black).

Since I live in one of those unlucky countries that didn't get the theatrical release of RFI, all I can add now are some new reviews:

https://theface.com/music/review-gorill ... mon-albarn
https://www.clashmusic.com/features/fiv ... alse-icons
https://www.gigwise.com/film/3367734/th ... ily-affair

munch will like the "family home video footage filmed on a camcorder" comparison in gigwise review, I think ;-)
