My first question was "Who?" but I decided to look him up, might be an interesting if not odd collaboration :)

Nick Hodgson (former drummer and lyricist from Kaiser Chiefs) is also taking some part in the project, according to the tweets, so I am looking forward to hearing what this might be..

it seems they are working in his studio. Graham is probably guest on Rat Boy´s upcoming album. Or the other way around? He has been posting pics of guitars and studio equipment lately. And it´s almost 5 years since A+E.

Rat Boy is terrible. Really bad. He's basically just ripping off Jamie T.

isn't this just fucking tragic? rat boy?

anyway - why is graham so unproductive? makes me question his motives tbh. the way his solo albums were lo-fi, then when he left blur he suddenly starts making very commercial sounding albums. when the blur reunion money comes in, suddenly there appears to be no motivation to release new music or tour.

well, I assume The Magic Whip took a lot out of him, considering how it was made, then touring. I wouldn't say he is unproductive anyway. Wasn't it mentioned he is working on a new album? So it just hasn't come out yet.

Agreed. And bare in mind that between leaving Blur and re-joining to then A&E he released a number of incredible albums and toured heavily. Was there a year in the 00's and early 10's when he wasn't doing something? I look forward to any new album/material from Graham but he's earned a few years off.

I don't really know who Ratboy is/are but this seems a tad below the belt.

Think it's a bit baseless to consider Graham unproductive, worth considering that 09, 12, 13 and 15 were pretty much given up to Blur so no solo records at the time. Release date of A&E meant he couldn't really promote that due to Blur commitments, would have fared far better in terms of sales had the 2 not overlapped and had he gigged/toured to promote it?

Would also pour buckets of scorn that a mid 40's ex-brit popper releasing a folk album was something that record labels thought would sell in droves...

Music industry has changed a lot and essentially it's not really financially profitable (in many cases viable) to release an album unless you are selling them in ridiculous quantities (Adele, Ed Sheeran, etc) bands like Courteeners, Macabbees etc are splitting because its just not sustainable to live as an adult in this economic climate unless you are trying to sell in huge quantities and I don't think anyone could ever have accused Graham of having mega stardom as his end goal...
