Songs that should have been Singles

Post by JAIME » 14 Aug 2015, 19:31

Damon and a lot of Blur fans (including myself) consider that This Is A Low should have been released as a single. In fact that's my fave Blur song.

But, what other songs deserved to be released as singles in your opinion?

Just off the top of my head and I've not thought about this at all, so I may be talking rubbish. But...

How about Young and Lovely? Didn't even make it on to the album, but I reckon it would have made a cracking single.

Yeah, This Is A Low should have been a single. And I'll begin with the most under-rated songs by blur themselves - Ambulance . This definitely should have been a single instead of Good Song, IMO. And I would maybe add I'm Just A Killer For Your Love - the song is very good and can get stuck in the head - and, as far as I'm concerned, they played it a lot during the support tour for s/t. Other albums were represented by a fairly big amount of singles so I don't know where they could release more songs.

I wish they would've released Black Book as an A-side in 2000. It's such an incredible song and they could've played it in the 2010s tours. Oh well :|

This Is A Low (instead of End Of A Century)

I'm not a huge fan of this one (heresy, I know), but it would have been a massive hit.

Good topic.

Going through Blur's singles, I think the majority of them were good choices (or at least they were at the time) and there are very few I would have changed.

I think the obvious changes one might make are Sing, Advert and This Is A Low taking the places of Bang, Sunday Sunday and End of a Century respectively.

Of course there are many other songs that could have been singles like Blue Jeans, Badhead, Tracy Jacks, He Thought Of Cars, It Could Be You, Death of A Party, Trimm Trabb, Bugman, but finding space for them would have been difficult.

I can't see Ambulance being a single but then again if it had stopped Crazy Beat it would have been a good call.
