For now we can hope it's just because it was a festival!
Of course that's what it is. I don't understand all this criticism of the set. Hello?!?! The IoW festival show would've been attended by people are mostly not Blur fans....they'll know and like the singles and that's about it. No-one - bar the hardcore Blur fans - wants to hear new stuff at a festival headline slot.

The Hyde Park set will be as before, catering to the Blur fans who have gone specifically to see Blur. Unlike the festival crowd who patently have not gone to see Blur.

Jeez.

Not all fans are able to go to Hyde Park or to the small shows. It is disappointing to see that they're already dropping TMW songs and that the setlist is still too similar to previous years. Dunno, I believe that they should just do their thing, no matter what kind of show they're playing. And in 2015, 'their thing' is The Magic Whip.

"Blur were nothing short of brilliant. After Pharrell Williams's disappointing set, thank heavens for Blur"
The Guardian http://www.theguardian.com/music/2015/j ... 015-review" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
"Despite having lost his voice the previous day, Damon Albarn bounds onstage like a hyperactive bovver boy up for a rumble and powers through one of IOW’s best ever headline shows. Mingling the subtle noise-mongering and languorous Euro beer anthems of new album The Magic Whip with rare album tracks and solid gold festival killers such as Parklife, Song 2, Girls & Boys and The Universal, theirs is an imaginative, unpredictable display that is still as rousing as Springsteen in 2012. IOW leaves us magically whipped."

Thank Christ the band disagree.

Their set has been rapturously received in the press.

Nice to see positive reviews!

I do wonder at this point of they will do more UK dates later in the year or not.

Very nice to see all positive feedback from the press. Heh how funny...it takes a proper oldschool band to genuinely entertain the festival crowd.

Well it seems they're playing less and less Magic Whip songs as the gigs go on, so glad some of us got to see them at MODE and Wolverhampton.
