I really really *really* don't get the apathy towards New World Towers. It's a beautiful song and Graham's guitar breaks elevate it to something really quite special I think.

Yep that thing Graham said is absolutely spot on IMO...it really does have that feel about it. Properly beautiful, a timeless melody, and very English too.

Still 'I Broadcast' for me. Bit surprised to see 'New World Towers' go, (a) because it's good, (b) because it sounds unlike anything anyone other than Damon would dream of doing, from top to bottom, totally unique. Would have thought a whole load of songs, from 'Ghost Ship' and 'Mirrorball' to 'Ice Cream Man', would be higher up on the list.

'I Broadcast', as far as I see, is a decent ditty but a bit of a poor man's 'The Puritan'. I've successfully used 'Magic Whip' to convert a whole bunch of unsuspecting guests to Blur, but that's usually the moment when faces screw up a bit - the 'not such a fan of this one moment'. Then again, maybe that's down to some subconscious message I'm sending out, giving them permission to momentarily stop liking Blur when it comes on.

I agree 100% about New World Towers. I think its a beautiful track. Dave and Alex give it a nice dubby feel. I think it gets looked over because it's one of the less "in your face" tracks of the album. People call it "Everyday Robots-y" - which I also don't really get... just because it's slow? I also like Everyday Robots quite a bit though... so there's that.

Heard it all now, The Puritan is awful, I Broadcast is great and nothing like it....

I think The Puritan is one of Blur's very worst songs, if not the worst. So bad it's embarrassing.

Leave The Puritan alone! It's a cracking tune.
