Yeah with a performance of 2hrs 20 mins (if not longer) at Hyde Park they might play a few more. Hopefully Ghost Ship and TATMOU.

Agree with all that. HP gives them a bit of space for a few more. I sincerely hope for more from The Magic Whip.JackS wrote:I had a feeling this would happen. Mirrorball, TATMOU, Ghost Ship all dropped from the tour, Pyongyang still a no show. All 4 of those should be getting played imo. Call it "moan moan moan", but they are all exceptional songs, all sound great live, and at a Blur (non festival) gig in 2015 they should be played, simple as.

Hard to argue with that. At a festival I totally get it but it's a bit odd at their own shows.JackS wrote:I had a feeling this would happen. It's really not a problem of scheduling, they just played 23 songs! Play 10 tunes off your latest record, which has been #1 in the UK and got a lot of critical praise, then 10 classics and 2/3 fan favourites, that's it.

I'm gutted they aren't played 1992 after having it on their list of songs a few months ago...

I wholeheartedly agree with whoever it was who said a few posts ago that The Universal is the ultimate set closer - honestly struggling to think of a better one.

Re: Gig: Paris, 15 June
Six out of 23 at a non festival gig for an album which only came out in April seems such a strange choice. And Parklife got six, and that album has been heavily represented in 2009 and 2012/13. As someone said, if you're going to have fewer TMW songs for older stuff, surely S/T deserves its moment in the sun?

Re: Gig: Paris, 15 June
I think the sheer consistent quality of The Magic Whip is giving them problems. Pretty much every song's worthy of being played, yet there's only so much time, and perhaps 70% of that audience went there for a nostalgia fix...
It'd be so less problematic if half the songs on TMW were crap.
Pyongyang though, it's got such a crowd-pleasing anthemic thing going on in a non-cheesy way. How good does your back catalogue have to be for a song like that to get bumped?

They need to play sets like the Cure. 40 songs with 5 encores.

By the way, that link I posted earlier when the original link did its "haha tough luck rosbifs" thing... I'd seen that posted by Gypsy07 over on Graham's board earlier, so thanks to her for that.

They're building it up so much that when they finally play it, we'll all just come in our pants from listening to itAstronomyD81 wrote:No pyongyang!!I don't understand why?!!!

Songs that should be ditched:
This Is A Low
Parklife
Girls & Boys
For Tomorrow
To The End
Songs that NEED to be played:
Strange News From Another Star
I'm Just A Killer For Your Love
Bugman
1992
Battle
Country Sad Ballad Man
Pyongyang
Ice Cream Man
Trailerpark
Ambulance
Battery In Your Leg
Black Book
Blue Jeans
And yeah yeah yeah, I'll now get people moaning "what are you doing wanting the hits ditched??" but come on...you're telling me you don't want to hear the songs in the second list MORE?
