I actually think TGE is underrated, especially here. It gets trashed :x

Well, it does contain some of Blur's worst songs. Funny thing is that it half of it is up there with their best work.

Nail on the head. The Universal, He Thought of Cars... sublime.

The rest goes from good-ish to average to bad.

Charmless Man is definitely overrated here. One of my least favourite songs by Blur.

TGE is definitely NOT overrated on this forum. It has some vocal defenders, but on the whole it gets a fairly hard time on here.

leisure whilst having poor production, and damon not developed as a song writer yet

has a lot of great tunes

the great escape is half an album

The Universal
It Could Be You
Best Days (tho thats another overrated song round these parts)
He Thought Of Car
Globe Alone
Dan Abnormal (underrated tune, and not the worst track on the album by a country mile)
Yuko & Hiro

the rest is pure shit, that i would be embarassed to play to anyone

so whilst its best moments are better than leisure, its shit moments mean it ranks under leisure for me

You're quite generous. I'd eliminate It Could Be You (can't stand that song), Globe Alone and Dan Abnormal too. Best Days is definitely overrated here, it's a pass at best. Yuko & Hiro is a nice song. That really leaves The Universal and He Thought of Cars as two of the best songs not only on TGE, but of Blur's entire catalogue.

Disgusted by the hate for The Great Escape! The only two crap songs are Ernold Same and Yuko & Hiro. The rest...better than Parklife! Each to their own though I suppose.

This thread is hilarious.

'Song X is overrated'

'No way, Song X is brilliant. Song Y is ovverrated'

'Are you nuts? Song Y is one of the best things they've ever done'

On repeat...
