Favourite side of The Magic Whip

Post by 101reykjavik » 28 Apr 2015, 19:55

At the danger of going one list thread too far (can you ever have too many lists?) here's another opportunity to list this wonderful new album. I'm playing the vinyl right now and I just was pondering which is my favourite side.

So we have:

1. Lonesome Street / New World Towers / Go Out
2. Ice Cream Man / Thought I Was A Spaceman / I Broadcast
3. My Terracotta Heart / There Are Too Many Of Us / Ghost Ship
4. Pyongyang / Ong Ong / Mirrorball

If you could play / pick one side either as a favourite or to showcase the album to someone else maybe, what would you choose?

I want to say side four with Pyongyang and Mirrorball, but there's the thing, that also means Ong Ong. And whilst the latter is huge fun, I regard it as a bit more lightweight than most of the album. If not, I'd probably say side three, but there's something to be said for each trio of tracks.

A close call between two and four, but I'll say two.

Excuse my ignorance, but I thought vinyl records had two sides... O_o

It's a double Rubi. As any album more than 45 minutes should be ideally. ;)

I've said it before on here, but that's why most albums in the 60's and 70's were under 45 mins. :)

Bob Dylan's "Desire" was 56 minutes, and fitted on two sides of vinyl.
It's weird to have less than 15 minutes a side..

Poll? ;)

Still thinking about my answer... It's quite difficult, they are four strong sets of songs!

Fair enough.
I just prefer 2 sides (it's the one thing that annoys me about the Blur 21 vinyls) :P

Easy:

But 2 of my faves are on the side 1 (Lonesome Street and Go Out).

I love New World Towers myself. I voted for side 1.
