Me White Noise vs. Crazy Beat on Think Tank

Post by silentbob69 » 28 Mar 2015, 19:29

I won't spoil the Mojo article for anyone but there has been discussion on here and the official forum before it died regarding this Marmite of a song and it seems Damon agrees with most of us.

He says he regrets not putting Me White Noise on Think Tank instead of Crazy Beat and it is the only time he has listened to outside influences and he shouldn't have.

Westway said he liked "Crazy Beat", didn't he?

He's entitled to his opinion, even if it's fucking stupid.

Indeed! One of the most overlooked Blur songs out there. It puts me in a trance every time I listen to it. I can never get enough of it.

PS: I hope he's talking about his version of the song, though. Phil Daniel's rendition is kinda 'meh'...

Swapping out Crazy Beat with Me White Noise would have been such a smart move.
Crazy Beat is easily my least favorite Blur song by a long shot.

Me White Noise is awesome. So dirty and funky, bassy and gritty.
Thumps
Love it

Good shit

(and I like the Phil Daniels version too. his voice matches better with the lyrics and then when Damon does come in, it fills up the song.
That song is pimp...)

I don't mind Crazy Beat. Though It is a worse version of BLUREMI. Love this lyrics in crazy beat.
"I'm on my mobile and I'm talking to the president
I got to get him for the money I've spent
Trying to get him to party with me
And even offered him ecstasy".
file:///C:/Users/Bluroasis/Desktop/Hipsters%20Hate%20Us%20107.3%20-%20Vail%20Vail%20Binks%208.jpg

EVERYTHING WILL BE ALRIGHT IN THE END. IF IT'S NOT ALRIGHT IT'S NOT THE END.

I created an own topic for this because it didn't really belong to the Secret Gig thread - please stay on topic folks. :)

Yes I've been moving posts as well as people keep going off topic...ALL THE TIME. :P

As for the two songs, Crazy Beat has it's place and I prefer Damon's version of Me White Noise. But I would have gone for Some Glad Morning on the album over both of them.

Yep guys, that's what mods do - I am one on another Forum and splitting threads that have gone OT is quite normal

You know, it's been sooooo long since I listened to either song, that I'll have to revisit both before answering this question.
I've been drifting along in the same stale old shoes
Loose ends tyin' a noose in the back of my mind...

I love Me White Noise. Crazy Beat I don't hate, but I would prefer it if the lyrics were better.

Where's the Me, White Noise version with Damon singing available? I'm not sure I've heard it!

Youtube is your friend. There's various ones on there labelled as 'alternative version'.
