Yeah unfortunately I don't see it doing to well over here in the US, which is a shame because the possibility of US gig(s) all rely on whether Damon thinks the album has done well enough over here.

I know I'll be buying it on iTunes as well as a physical copy (hopefully at my record store, if they have it) plus I encourage all US fans to stream the album on Spotify. It's free to use and you could potentially leave the album on repeat for a whole week and all of your streams would count.

Not to compare the two, but Noel's new album would have been at least top 20 over here based on sales alone (he was in the top 15 on US iTunes for the majority of his first sales week). But because streaming factors into the charts, Noel charted at #38. I think that Blur's casual fans, the connection to Gorillaz, and positive reviews from the music press will lead to a lot of people at least streaming the album to give it a listen, even if they don't buy it.

Very good point. We need it to do well here, I'm hoping it can be somewhere in the 20s. I'll be doing my part, that's for sure!

Sadly I agree, it most likely won't do well here...certainly not as well as the self-titled, 13, or Think Tank...and those were in the days when people actually BOUGHT their music. Let me put it this way...it's certainly not going to do as well here to convince them to play any shows. Sucks but that's the way it is. If they didn't break American wide open in 1997-2003, they're not going to in 2015...it's a different world and a different (ie shittier) musical climate.

Haha, exactly what I was thinking. Ken Bruce! But like you said, we've been moaning about a lack of promo...

I have a question which I guess I'm supposed to know but I don't. Where do pre-order sales enter the chart? (have they all been saved up to be included in the first week sales for the weekend chart of when the album is officially released, do they not count at all, or have they already been in the chart)?

Are those numbers solid? If so, Argentina is doing pretty well. They're making their way for a live show of The Magic Whip pretty soon.

Preorders count for current itunes chart positions, but the sales don't count for the official album chart until they're added up during the first sales week.

So the album is #9 in the UK right now on pre-orders alone. Not bad, not bad. I can easily see this going to #1. Look at Ireland for example, the album has been out a day there and it's at #1. BOOM!!
