I'd imagine that some more reviews will start coming in this week, now that it's only two weeks away. But yeah, Pitchfork is normally release date or shortly after.

I honestly would not be surprised if it ends up in the mid-7s range.

To be honest I'd be pretty happy with that. They can be ruthless with reunited bands, and so much seems to depend on who writes the review. Having said that I still quite like Pitchfork.

True, although anything less than an 8.0 Best New Music is always a bit disappointing for an album/band you really like.

Has he been banned or what? No sign of him since the sad fandom debacle.

But anyway, let's get back to topic! I'm eager to know what rating Pitchfork have given the album.
Agreed. I hope he really is starting his own forum so he'll be all alone. Hmm who else are we waiting on a review from besides Pitchfork? And Rolling Stone. Any other big ones?

Oh duh, how could I forget. I thought they had reviewed it already, for some reason.

Not a professional reviewer but I'm quite looking forward to a review from Anthony Fantano/The Needle Drop. When it comes to his YouTube videos, he's not the best in town (that's Darren Lock, who only reviews old prog albums) but I quite enjoy his reviews nonetheless.

Oh yeah, I had almost forgot about Fantano. He's a fairly big fan. He gave "Fool's Day" an 8/10 back in 2010 (though he also gave Everyday Robots a 5/10, which I do kind of understand).

It's actually interesting how popular Fantano has gotten. Only a few years ago, he was just another poster on /mu/ (4chan's music board), and now he's able to live off of doing record reviews on Youtube.

good for him.

I find this guy good but intense. Plus as most of his reviews are concentrated around lyrics I doubt he will review The Magic Whip but i dunno https://www.youtube.com/user/SilensCursor/videos" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Yeah, Anthony Fantano is always interesting to listen to. I don't know what it is, sometimes I would watch him and think "why would I care about your opinion?", but at the same time I know he knows his music well and listens to a wide variety of music from different genres. And plus, he is pretty popular on youtube and some people will agree with everything he says :roll: :lol: . I don't agree with him on Everyday Robots

I don't usually like reviews because most of the time you have no background of the reviewer, their musical background/tastes... So their opinions don't matter at all to me... Just like anywhere on the internet... youtube, magazine sites, forums (such as this one), etc.

Like somebody saying "Go Out is a 6.5/10", you don't know, this person could be a Muse or Oasis fan.

And so the NME verdict is in...

It's another 8/10. It reads like a 9/10 though, as is the case with most of these reviews.

Thought they would have had a more in-depth review.
