I did actually rate ER, but The Magic Whip is a lot better, there's no denying that. It should be getting 9/10s in my opinion.

Agreed! Based on the live show it's as close to a 10 as possible.

Thank you Daii, that was quite a wonderful reading, particularly Graham's interview, it leaves you with a really nice image about how are things between them :D

I remember hearing a bunch of reviewers in the past commenting on stuff Damon and Graham had done and saying things like 'I've got no time for the fun tracks'.

What da hell kinda review is that  (I think I heard this on the radio )

Yes, really good read. Thank you again!

Graham's further elaboration on the process and working methods in Hong Kong were interesting. Something I did pick up from Graham's piece; whilst we will all be eternally grateful to Graham for his efforts to drag this album into existence (thank you Tweedz, ya hero!), it's very interesting to hear that the initial jamming sessions in HK were instigated by Damon. Graham was all set for five days of lazing around the hotel. I guess we shouldn't be surprised at Damon's work ethic kicking in (five days off, you must be crazy!!), but again, it's part of the journey in how this most unlikely of albums came to pass.

I'd love to hear the initial jams and ideas from the Hong Kong session.

Mmm, i'm not happy with it only getting an 8, still pretty positive though.

They should hopefully start rolling out over the next couple of weeks, thanks for posting!

Yeah, that review was very positive as a whole, no need to worry for just a number. Still, 8/10 is a pretty good mark! I expect most reviews to be on the 7,5/9 range.

Thanks for the Uncut scans, dali. It was a good read, especially Graham's bits.

“We were all scared to death,” Coxon says. “I wanted Damon to feel that it was nearly finished and I was hoping that it would inspire him.

After the first track, he started to warm up. Then he started swearing. Then he started dancing around a bit. Then Dave and Alex shoved some bass on here and there where it needed to be redone because the sound wasn’t that brilliant, the Hong Kong recordings.”

I really enjoyed reading that bit, glad they are sharing those stories with us and if NME is reading this, Graham Coxon should get a hero of the year award end of !
