'Go Out', and radio station playlists...

Post by Neal Zeal » 26 Feb 2015, 17:49

The new playlists for w/c 28th Feb have now been published and, as a certain Mr N Zeal predicted, it's on the 6 Music A list but nowhere to be found on Radio 2's (I expect because it simply isn't tuneful enough).
Haven't checked XfM's yet but it will surely be added to theirs.

Looks like it's on XfM's too - http://www.xfm.co.uk/playlist/daytime/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
No surprise there!

It's a shame, too "old" for Radio 1 but not mor enough for Radio 2, so in a bit of mainstream airplay limbo, already getting stick from my non Blur fan friends, "it must be crap its not been on the radio once!"

Hopefully there's one radio friendly "hit" on the album to keep them quiet!

I feel the same way. I know charts and all that doesn't really matter as long as the music is great... but I want Blur to have mainstream success like they always had when releasing new material! It also could inspire them to tour more if their new stuff got more popular, and it could maybe even lead to them hitting the studio again!

Radio 2 is pretty vanilla though, isn't it? There's a little bit of me that kind of digs the fact that the band I'm most in to isn't for the likes of Radio 2, at least with this song anyway. :D

I've heard Go out only once on BBC6 (and I listen to it all the day at work). So, do you think they'll put it on air more from tomorrow?
Sorry, but I don't know how these playlist work.

Yep, from tomorrow the song will be played several times per day on 6 Music.
You'll be getting sick of it by this time next week!

It will be very difficult that I'll become tired of it so soon!!
It'll needs maybe almost one or two months of heavy rotation for that since I was so hungry for new Blur material!!

yeah i would not say it was the best thing blur have done but that has not stopped me continuously listening to it. IT FRESH. As long as albums sale that should encourage them to tour.

Awesome awesome. Wish I could tune in, though I'm too far away. It's getting airplay and it was the 2nd most popular song on Spotify in the U.S. last week, so these are very good signs! Wonder how the album will sell here.

Radio 2 should be playing a new Blur single. However, it has turned into a truly awful station in the last 2 years or so. :x

It must be run by people who have emerged from local independent radio  . They play the same obvious songs - it is as if only about 20 singles were ever made during the 1970s.

I avoid when possible and prefer 6Music.

Exactly, its pretty shocking they are ignoring a new Blur single, yeah its not the most commercial sounding nice package for them (good!) but not even on the C list!?!?!

...we have it on at work all day and people are saying well where's the new song then? your right radio 2 has gone a lot safer, day time you used to hear Arctic Monkeys, a bit of Prodigy and some Song 2, seems like nothing "loud" is allowed anymore...
