Re: The Magic Whip Tour
It does seem like they're mailing in the live shows a bit, at least as far as setlists's go. The fact that they have hundreds of songs to choose from and they play the same 20-22, in the exact same order, show after show, is kind of a bummer. Try harder, dammit!

yeah I know, but when the show comes you will have put all this to one side and you'll have a brilliant time, nogoadamn wrote:Yeah, I'm kind of wishing that I didn't spend so much on a ticket and airfare to go to the Hollywood Bowl show. That wasn't cheap, and I'm missing work for a couple of days.
The memory of the Essex warm up gig from 2009 is so fond and up close, I'm already feeling a bit disappointed. I really want more S/T, 13, and Magic Whip in the show.
Not gonna get too worked up about it, but it's kind of disappointing

[I've seen them twice this year - Mode and Hyde park - completely different shows, but both memorable and highly enjoyable]
I put me trousers on, have a cup of tea, and think about leaving the house...

There's a lot of truth in this. Preferred setlists can be discussed by all of us, but let's not forget, whatever they play if you just throw youself into it, lose yourself in the music (and maybe have a beer or two) you can't fail to have a brilliant time watching our favourite band.rich wrote:yeah I know, but when the show comes you will have put all this to one side and you'll have a brilliant time, nogoadamn wrote:Yeah, I'm kind of wishing that I didn't spend so much on a ticket and airfare to go to the Hollywood Bowl show. These two posts are spot on.101reykjavik wrote:There's a lot of truth in this. I believe both the concerns/gripes over the setlists and the appreciation of just seeing blur live are both good to talk about. Because there are some songs that really seem odd to still have in the setlist, and there are loads of songs that would fit perfectly but for whatever reason aren't played. But, in the end of the day, we'll be seeing an amazing band do an amazing job. I'm beyond exciting to hear whatever I hear at MSG, but I'm still gonna hope and want some changes to the setlist. It's only natural, not trying to moan at all

Re: The Magic Whip Tour
We really have no excuse to moan now. They couldn't have made a better and more interesting addition IMO! And they brought back Advert!

Absolutely bemused at the addition of Caravan. Beautiful choice, one of Blur's best songs - but who would have predicted a Think Tank song added over a Magic Whip song?!

It is indeed random. Wonderfully surprising, but random nonetheless. I can only assume there is no rhyme nor reason to their setlist choices.JackS wrote:Absolutely bemused at the addition of Caravan. Re: The Magic Whip Tour
I'm glad they've gotten a bit random. Maybe that means they might surprise us with some other treats before it's all said and done, who knows? I'm very excited to see
