Poll: How many Blur gigs have you attended?

Post by aldamasta » 21 Feb 2015, 19:02

With the new album announced, a Hyde Park show in June, and warm up gigs being announced in the next week or so (and hopefully a world tour!), I'm curious to know how many Blur gigs you guys on Veikko's forum have gone to! And if you'd like, you can tell when and where the gigs were. As a young American fan, I've never had the pleasure of seeing Blur live :( but I'm hoping I'll finally have my chance sometime this year! :)

edit: I didn't add an option of 0 gigs attended, which is what I would choose... sorry for those who haven't seen them live, I feel your pain

I've been lucky enough to see them 7 times. The first one was my first event gig in 1997 where they were supported by Super Furry Animals. These 2 bands remain my 2 favourite bands to this day. Here's my 7, fingers crossed you get to see them this year!

Glasgow SECC - 1997
T in the Park Festival - 1999
Edinburgh Corn Exchange - 1999
Leeds Festival - 2003
Glasgow Barrowlands - 2003
Hyde Park - 2009 & 2012

I sincerely doubt they'll ever come close enough that it would be fiscally possible for me to see a Blur show.

I do indeed! I've not ordered the album yet but I will. I know for a fact they'll announce a Scottish warm up show very soon after Hyde Park sells out but i'll still be in London 8-)

Great memories!

1994 - Leeds Town & Country (Lost my 21st birthday watch in my first moshpit lol!)
1994 - Aston Villa Leisure Centre (Pulp supported, saw Damon and Phil in car park :D )
1995 - Milton Keynes Bowl (Rem support but blew them off the stage, my fave Blur show, they were simply on fire on a scorching day!)
1995 - Sheffield Arena
1997 - Hull Ice Arena (What a punk rock set list! http://vblurpage.com/gigography/1997/1130_hull.htm )
1999 - Leeds Festival (Surprised me finishing with Sing, but it was perfect...)
1999 - Wembley Arena (Singles Night, I Know took us by surprise for a few seconds ;) )
2009 - Newcastle O2 (Still brilliant with Damon diving into the crowd at least twice!)

The only one in Chile, in November 2013. That was the best concert ever for me. 8-) :P

That's exactly why I think their "greatest hits" tour was a grand thing. It let a lot of fans who've never had the chance to see Blur live have a once in a lifetime concert. I have a friend from Santiago who was also at that concert! She absolutely loved it. So while some people saw that tour as just a money-grabbing opportunity, I think it was a great thing for the fans :)

100% agreed with you.

The fans of Blur from all over the world had the chance to see our favorite band live. That was unbelievable, unforgettable and unique.

1997 - Brighton
1999 - Paris (13)
1999 - Brighton (Singles night)
1999 - Wembley (Singles night)
2000 - Meltdown
2003 - London (MTV Camden, mini-gig I think they played about 7 songs, though TT newies were repeated I think)
2003 - London Astoria
2003 - London Brixton (x3)
2003 - London Elephant & Castle
2003 - Brighton
2009 - Colchester
2009 - Southend
2009 - Hyde Park

So I suppose you could argue it's Blur 8 times and Lur 7 times (or maybe 6 if you discount the MTV gig where I remember us being asked to go crazy to Sweet Song by a TV type bod who wanted some Song 2 appropriate moshing for the cameras - although the memory is a bit hazy)

Oh you can add the Brit awards - 2012 was it? and the Damon & Graham Warchild gig where Westway was previewed too at a push and at a bigger stretch the Teenage Cancer Trust gig where Damon and Graham performed (Tender with Noel G being the only Blur number played)

A lot of gigs! Cool. I'm especially jealous of TCT 2013, must have been surreal to see Damon, Graham, Noel, and Paul Weller all performing Tender.
