Re: Gorillaz - Phase 4?
Kendrick would be huge, and he's shown that he's not above collaborating or at least not taking himself too seriously with that Taylor Swift Bad Blood collaboration.
I think MIA's a good shout - rap but also left field.
Obviously would not complain at either Bowie or McCartney but part of me thinks it would be good if Damon worked with an older artist who didn't have such a huge reputation. Bobby Womack's stock wasn't that high before he started working with Damon both for Gorillaz and his latest LP. Maybe even someone generally regarded as really cheesy - Lionel Richie anyone?

I think that's where I was going with my thinking He's So High. Someone with a real pedigree, but perhaps who's stock is not as high as it once was.
Another idea - Robert Smith? I'll stop now.

Re: Gorillaz - Phase 4?
I think one of Damon's talents that maybe doesn't get mentioned enough is his ability to work with others and draw the best out of them, no matter how past their peak or grumpy they are. I can't imagine Bobby Womack or Lou Reed were the easiest of people to work with but both obviously made star turns.101reykjavik wrote:I think that's where I was going with my thinking He's So High. Yeah, that could be Gorillaz. Sounds about right. Heaven knows if it is though...

September, huh? Guess all this Ratboy matter was nothing special, after all!metalhipslop wrote:http://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-07-16/n ... rn/6624160
Well, at least this interview with Damon gives us the confirmation we were questioning ourselves about!

Re: Gorillaz - Phase 4?
It's odd that this news should surface the day after all the Ratboy stuff though... Maybe it's just a coincidence.

Re: Gorillaz - Phase 4?
Not really, the Rat Boy stuff sounds awful. Damon confirmed that he'll be starting the Gorillaz album in September and it ain't September yet. I highly doubt he's in the studio recording a new Gorillaz song a few days before Blur embark on their foreign tour.

Re: Gorillaz - Phase 4?
If you watch the video on the ABC AU site, he mentions that the new Gorillaz videos will have to be scaled back quite a bit. That's a shame.

The video for DoYaThing turned out good even though it was sponsored by a shoe company rather than a record label.
