I really hope he wins (as most of us here probably do) not just because he's my favorite artist, but because Everyday Robots was amazing, his tour was even better, and because none of the acts nominated with him in the male solo category even come close to comparing to Damon. Most of them are young, and none (most likely) will ever have a career as interesting and prolific as Damon's. Ahhh I've ended up just fanboying/rambling. But while I'm at it, I think Damon really deserved an album of the year nomination. Anyways, good luck to Damon! Need to find a channel here in America that'll have it live... maybe Palladia?

Not all bad, this year. Damon, Royal Blood, Beck, Jack White, St Vincent, First Aid Kit and The War on Drugs all get a nomination.

Yes, you also get the usual Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith, Coldplay, One Direction, Pharrell Williams, Taylor Swift etc etc which will probably win the awards, but at least there is some music outside more mainstream pop taken into consideration.

Correct. But that's okay, the Brits is there for a reason. It's purpose generally is to reward the most popular, because they've generated revenue. And promoting them further at the Brits will spin off further sales. Fair enough. The nods to the less mainstream acts are exactly that: 'Here, we can recognise good music, but you're not where the money is at.' That's why Damon or Beck for example won't win.

Damon's latest stuff sucks, but the live shows are probably the best shows he's ever done (incl. Blur, Gorillaz, GBQ etc etc etc etc etc)
Beck hasn't put anything good out in like 10 years

Pharrell's new songs are dope

and on that topic, I remember a few months ago Damon said that Happy by Pharrell lacks "lyrical substance" or some shit which is missing the whole point of the song and its better than hearing a middle aged man crying to a boring beat about how everyone at the bus stops are using their phones

You mean this quote?

"I mean, [Gorillaz'] Plastic Beach was all about pollution, and plastic and food chains too. But you know, Pharrell Williams doesn’t sing about the fact that we’re all going to be eating jellyfish. He sings about being happy, because that's a subject people are comfortable with – a wonderful sentiment, yes, but very empty in essence."

Damon is spot on in that quote in my opinion.

Everyday Robots is a beautiful album and I hope Damon wins

It's good that Damon was nominated but he won't win.

Everyday Robots has some very good moments, but Mr Tembo makes me want to hack my ears off with a butchers knife.

My money is on Ed Sheeran.

Ed Sheeran all day.

I'd love it if Damon won but he won't.

That statement from Damon seems like a fair point.

I love the song live but the album version isn't as good. The backing singers should have been higher in the mix.

Same for me Miki! It's sweet, simple, and an enjoyable song. One of my favorite tunes Damon has written in recent years!
