I far prefer forums to other arenas like Facebook when it comes to specialized things like bands, for a variety of reasons. I hope that isn't the trend. Blur made a huge gaff in dumping their forum...if long defunct bands from the 60s, 70s, 80s, can have vibrant forums, why can't Blur? (and they DID!)

Can it be leaked onto this forum? ;)
No. The issue isn't that EMI/Blur didn't want it leaked on that forum. They don't want it leaked ANYWHERE, as stated ad nauseum before on the other forum, for LEGAL reasons. IE EMI/Blur own the film and anyone who leaks it is in violation of copyright and subject to prosecution and fines. Honestly, whether we debate the merits of it or not, I don't understand why that simple fact is so hard for so many to understand.

I still don't understand the obsession with it. From what I have read about it (in Drew's book) it sounds like it's not worth the hype.

Back to the topic, I really don't get why the deleted the old forum. Was it really taking that much space up?

Tom, did Dave ever get back to you when you emailed him about the closing of the forum in September?

^ I'm guessing not. I assume Tom would have mentioned it if he'd heard anything from Dave - postive or negative.

RIP, old forum. You will be missed.

One day someone that has it will think "screw it". Until then, I'm sure it's hardly Gone With The Wind the world's being withheld.

Not if I beat you to it! :P

But yeah, the mystique far outweighs the substance, suffice to say,

I still don't get why they didn't just leave the old forum as read only? There are forums that were closed almost 10 years ago that I used to be on that are still online as read-only. Seems so dumb on the management/band's part.

It is dumb. I don't see what they gain by obliterating the whole thing so it must just be the dead, corporate hand of the label ticking boxes and tidying up their artists' online presenses. Little thought behind it probably.

It sure lends credence that the band are over forever as that was the quickest and easiest way to get the word out about things, especially from 2008 onward...

It's such a shame, I loved reading back old posts when I was bored :(

Although some were a bit cringe-worthy.

Now all I have is waybackmachine
