Re: Damon Albarn - Everyday Robots album reviews
My ranking of songs in this album:
1. Mr. Tembo
2. Hollow ponds
3. The history of a cheating heart
4. You and Me (I didn't like it so much in March, but I've changed my mind about this song)
5. Lonely press play
6. Hostiles
7. Parakeet
8. The selfish giant
9. Heavy seas of love
10. Photographs (you are taking now)
11. Everyday robots
12. Seven high
P.S. Electric fences is a good B side in my opinion.

Why is it every-time Damon releases new music, people start nay-saying and slagging him off, and then a month or two later admit that they love his latest stuff? It's been going on for years,

NOT for the likes of you.

Beautiful video, I watched it during the weekend. Love the rain at night in slow motion.ildi wrote:hostiles sounds so good in the new video! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4VZd-U-8PeU" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Yes, love the video and made me revisit the song. In fact I played the whole album after a few weeks break.
I've been drifting along in the same stale old shoes

Having heard the three new Blur songs I had to search this thread out as I really tried to like this solo album, the best I can give this is 2/5 and rather listen to Fools Day/Under the Westway and yes even The Puritan on repeat than this awful terrible production dirge, don't kid yourself people, its truly awful and you only like it due to the name "Damon Albarn"...
We owe so much to Graham and Stephen Street, knocked Damon to his senses! look "this is the fkin material you can actually do...wake up!"
Hopefully another Blur album then! or alas another Gorillaz, Good The Bad And The Pants, or Damon Albarn drivel pt 2...don't waste the best band ever Damon!
If they can make this over a few days in Hong Kong what on earth could they produce over a concentrated 6 month album session rather than a load of other interests!?!?!?

I still get really baffled by the derision Everyday Robots got. Don't get me wrong, it was no Modern Life is Rubbish but Hostiles, Selfish Giant, You & Me, History of a Cheating Heart and Heavy Seas of Love were all superb. And I love Mr. Tembo live, but not the album version.

I love Everyday Robots. It's another case of people hating on Plastic Beach I guess. Some things i'll never understand. Whatever, "to each his own"

Definitely not true! It's a fantastic album. Different than things he's done before, but a great album nonetheless. Everyone has different opinions. For some reason a lot of people have been dissing ER lately here, I don't get itSledge Hammer wrote:Having heard the three new Blur songs I had to search this thread out as I really tried to like this solo album, the best I can give this is 2/5 and rather listen to Fools Day/Under the Westway and yes even The Puritan on repeat than this awful terrible production dirge, don't kid yourself people, its truly awful and you only like it due to the name "Damon Albarn"...

Re: Damon Albarn - Everyday Robots album reviews
I'm sorry I just find the whole minimalist production approach unlistenable, where as with all three of these Blur songs I love each of them, I guess it's just the perfect mix of Graham, and the smaller mix of Alex and Dave...I just feel we have missed out on some simply amazing music 2003-2014, but I am thankful for The Magic Whip as Damon could have refused I guess...
