Can anyone foresee a situation where Blur becomes a bit more of a team effort? I dream of a Blur LP where Graham has written 50% of the material. And I wouldn't at all mind having a couple of tracks from Alex and Dave either.

The more I think about this, the more I start to wonder if this 'accidental' leak of information is actually a clever little marketing ploy just to get us all excited without knowing anything concrete.. After all, why would an intelligent, highly professional person (which I'm sure James Ford is) accidentally let information THIS big slip if he'd been sworn to secrecy?! As someone who's had to keep professional secrets and/or sign NDA's on news much smaller than this, it's really not hard to keep it secret when your career and professional reputation is at stake.

Either way though, I'm still over the moon at this news!

LIVE SCHEDULE GAPS

What does this tell us?

Obviously, a lot of solo and Gorillaz recording took place across these four years – see list of albums above – but despite Covid 19 lockdown/isolation disruption, it’s possible to see potential opportunities for all four members of blur to have got together:

• in the autumn of 2019,
• throughout all of 2020, in between their own work, and
• in January through to April 2021.
Fun fact.

By accident I came across this quote today, it's Matt James from Gene talking about recording his solo album at Stephen Street's studio (which is in the same building as Studio 13):

Stephen’s on the ground floor, but I think Damon mostly works at the top of the building. It’s a great place. For me, having not been in the music industry for such a long time, it was nice to be in a professional environment – I was wandering about… When I was there, Blur were having a meeting, which was quite secretive – they were probably setting up their Wembley show. They looked surprised to see me.

It was in 2021, first half of the year I believe.

Wow - thanks Ewa!
Setting up a show two years in advance - sounds weird to me...
Hopefully sorting out new stuff?
I put me trousers on, have a cup of tea, and think about leaving the house...

And the exciting rumors keep coming… speculation that blur are touring Latin America in November 2023! I have no idea as to the validity of this post, but… https://www.instagram.com/p/CqdJcYhOl4G ... MyMTA2M2Y=

A little hard to believe this since Damon stated previously that Gorillaz were aiming to tour U.S. this fall.

Unless:
1. The Gorillaz tour was delayed or cancelled
2. Damon is going to break from the Gorillaz tour in Nov. to do more Blur touring.

If #2 happens I definitely can't say I ever imagined a time when Damon would do both Gorillaz AND Blur concurrently. Pretty crazy time we're living in.

Maybe Damon's imagining Gorillaz in the U.S. in September or October... with Blur in November?

Don't forget that Graham has an eight month old baby. I wouldn't expect a major tour. I have an eight month old baby too and I've barely left the house after 5pm.

Things will be picking up in the next few weeks.

That's true, but also don't forget he had a baby in October 2012. By the time the baby turned 1, Graham had already toured with Blur in Mexico, Indonesia, Finland, the USA, South America, among many other countries - not to mention the countries in Asia he didn't tour because the gigs were cancelled, but did shortly after, in January 2014. I'm not sure if that's a big issue then, but perhaps the fact he's 10 years older now may be? Nonetheless, I'm still very hopeful more dates will be announced soon, specially considering Blur might or might not have recorded a new album + rumours about a Latin American tour growing stronger every day.

Yeah, I'd imagine Damon wants to keep the narrative fairly Gorillaz-focused through Coachella... but after that I'd say all bets are off.

Well it would be nice if Damon could give 100% to the original 4 piece of Blur, something that hasn't happened since 1999, so many years of much superior material we could have had to Gorillaz which is just boring and emotionless most of the time, I played The Great Escape yesterday for the first time in ages, and even Best Days/Fade Away/Globe Alone/He Thought... album tracks far superior to Gorillaz, imo of course.

Stylo sums up Gorillaz best for me, fancy overblown prduction, fancy overblown video, fancy overblown "guest vocals"....

result? do we ever really want to listen to Stylo ever again? rather have Badgeman Brown :D
