Shaun Ryder - Happy Mondays/Black Grape

Post by Mallard No. 22 » 29 Sep 2017, 12:20

There doesn't seem to be a dedicated thread on here for any of Shaun Ryder's work.

I must say that the new Black Grape album (I never thought I'd hear myself say that :) ) is a storming one.

On the opening track, Shaun is reaching to his fans from the football terraces. Thus he resorts to cynical language ("he's a knobhead...." etc) in being criticle of President Trump. Whether this is right or wrong, perhaps he could have kept his opinions to himself :|

Once you get past this, it is a storming album. One infectious track after another. It is right up there with anything else he has done, in particular 'Thrills n Pills....' & 'It's Great When You're Straight' :D

IMHO it continues to be a good album, and has the edge over the new ones by Shed Seven and Noel Gallagher.

Which in themselves are better than Gorillaz....(dare I say that on here.... :P )
