Swans

Post by AdvertBreak » 11 Jan 2017, 15:02

One of my favourite bands and yet I've rarely discussed them on here. I'm hoping to see them in London in May (their last show in London with this line-up, + Thurston Moore as speical guest) but really I need someone to go with and as it's not my parents' sort of thing it might not happen, still i'm not sure yet.

Although I've known To Be Kind for some time, I've played it (all 2 hours) a heck of a lot recently. It's monolithic, euphoric noise is definitely a feel good delight. It's probably my favourite Swans album but sometimes it might be Children of God, White Light from the Mouth and Infinity and The Great Annihilator instead.

I've heard of them, a little like silver apples? Or at-least a bad-acid trip version of them?

Nothin like Silver Apples really. Their sound has shifted a lot though, from the early, particularly uncompromising (musically and lyrically) no wavey industrial stuff, through to the gothic folky era, through to their beautiful implosion at the end of the 90s before returning bigger and better as a particularly magfnificent, mighty, post-rocky and noisy band in this decade.
