I also believe there is a Auger commentary somewhere.... Have you ever watched the Monkees 1997 30th reunion tv special? If not, I will post it on here if you're interested....

I don't think I have seen that. I will get around to watching it, and the Auger commentary - assuming they are on YT?

Enjoy watching things like this, on You Tube through the TV. :geek: :)

Indeed, watching such as 'Head', the TV special and the documentaries shows the true depth of The Monkees talents.

Another aspect that stands out is how Davy Jones singalong style is similar to the other English Davie Jones (i.e. David Bowie) in that period. They could be one and the same to the uninitiated :mrgreen: , and it was essential that the latter changed his name.

P.S. I watched '33 1/3' with Mickey's commentary. He always sounds lively and fresh, and he was familiar with the production.

Yeah...he's very hysterical! I especially loved when he commentated on each of their earlier dream sequences.... Within the next couple of weeks they will be performing their final concert with Mike onstage. To me, quite honestly they should have just quit performing when Davy passed... obviously never the same whatsoever! Here's a video clip from their 1997 reunion album......https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2natdrYfTyc" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

That's too AOR for me lol....

Did they ever try grunge? They could have made a decent job of it. :)

No... this is AOR and from the same album....https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DsnkGuirTt8v" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; But this is a typical Davy song... nothing wrong w/that..a very catch pop song and I really still miss him immensely!

Actually...they rocked-out here on their remake of "Circle Sky" that they originally attempted for the "Head" soundtrack: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-XZP-YZsG5g" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Mike flat out rocked quite a bit....even though he was also known for his country yearnings!

Yes, that is a nice level of 'psych' in that song which I like. :)

P.S. quote brought over from another thread:
KingLouieLouie76 wrote:Right now I'm listening to.....

The Monkees - "Randy Scouse Git"
KLL - was that song actually released under that title in the USA?

In the UK it became known as 'Alternate Title', and tends to be listed as such in chart compilations.

Yes.... in fact that is indeed the official title... Guess who the "The four kings of EMI are sitting stately on the floor" lyrical reference pertains to? Obviously the Beatles themselves... Mickey wrote the lyrics inspired to their first London visit and also when they met the Beatles who all adored the Monkees!

Pirate radio might have played the song as 'Randy Scouse Git'.

Though I don't think the BBC (at that time) would like to announce that title on radio, even though it was a line from one of their TV sitcoms. :)
