The Ailerons, Cardiff Barfly. 19th June 2006.

What a show. My first gig AND I saw/met a member of Blur. If I remember rightly I think it was their debut show as well although there weren't many people there, perhaps 30 at the most.
THE AILERONS (DAVE ROWNTREE OF BLUR)
JUNCTION 38
THE OLYMPIC

£5 advance
7.30pm

"After spending a few years out doing the rock star thing like making cartoons , learning to fly and sending things into space, Blur drummer Dave Rowntree is back in music and sounding GREAT! Think Pretenders / Sheryl Crow mix of indie pop to produce an utterly catchy yet often eclectic style with more than a little hint of Brit Pop."

I went to a local festival every year of my life, from 10 months of age until it stopped in 2011 and moved to a different site.

But besides festivals, and a Midge Ure free concert, I believe my first gig was McFly at the Birmingham NEC on 18 September 2005. Lol.

I was taken to some sort of festival where Sleater-Kinney and Fugazi played when I was a baby, but that doesn't really count. My first concert was sometime in 2007 (I think?) and it was a Wilco concert.

the Jacksons Victory concert Philadelphia September 1984. I was 4 and was all decked out in Michael Jackson stuff: the glove, a belt that said "I Love Michael Jackson", a MJ shirt, and buttons.

(I think it was the last tour Michael did with his brothers as Thriller was already out)

On my own, I think it was Arcade Fire when they were touring The Suburbs. Dragged along with my parents, I can't even remember.

My 1rst gig was Los Prisioneros (the main Chilean band of the 80s, they were influenced by The Clash), spring 1991 in Viña del Mar. I was 14 years old at that time.
20,000 people there, smell of marihuana in the air, chants against the Police and against Pinochet's Dictatorship (which ended in early 1990) before and during the concert, it was great :D

I had all manner of country & western acts inflicted upon me in my youth at working men's clubs, and even the Foremost and Freddie & The Dreamers at Butlins one time. They don't really count - I hope.

The first gig I bought tickets for myself, and made a point of making my own way there, was Lenny Kravitz at Cambridge Corn Exchange in 1990. I stopped enthusing about his music a looooong time ago, but I still have that night flagged as one of the best of my life.

Run-DMC, L.A. 1988. Had to go with my dad because I couldn't find my best friend to ask him.

Mine was Peace a few years ago (the first of many times seeing them). Seeing them again in a few days...

I'd recommend this (give it a chance the first minute is quite quiet):

Mine was back in 1985 and I was merely 8 years-old and an interesting combo of bands and it's hilarious when you combine the two band names together!
