No truer words have ever been said on this forum than that right there! That was the happiest John ever was in his life, recorded one of his better albums, was back on positive terms with everyone in his life... Oh well.....

Yep. If you read what his contemporaries from that period have said, they ALL think the same thing. Hell, Mick Jagger has been on record saying that when John was with May, they hung out more than they ever had since the late 1960s, but as soon as he went back to Yoko he NEVER saw him and had all of his phone calls rebuffed by Yoko or her assistant. Same thing said by Jim Keltner, Harry Nilsson, David Bowie...hell, George freaking Harrison even said much the same thing.

Newest book review: Beatles Gear: The Ultimate Edition --> ... imate.html" onclick=";return false;

*THE* absolute bible if you want to see all of the guitars, basses, keyboards, drum kits, amps, and effects the Beatles ever owned and used between 1957 and 1970. The amount of research that went into this book is staggering. One of my favorite Beatles books (especially since I'm a musician myself). I highly recommend this to any Beatles fan, though, even if you don't play!

ALSO, since I forgot to post it here -->

I also just recently reviewed this fantastic new book called Riding So High: The Beatles and Drugs --> ... s-and.html" onclick=";return false;

The review is very nice. I also enjoyed your portraits of Blur and Graham.

As for the Beatles, do you know the German book "Die Beatles - Geschichte und Chronologie" ("The Beatles - History and chronology") It counts down information for every day the band existed.

I sometimes wonder if Paul + Ringo read the books - they probably find out things that they did, and things that they possessed, that they didn't know :mrgreen:

You've got to take your hat off to those who do the research and write it up into a book.

As you did Mr. Magpie with 'The Black Book' :D
