It's legit and the album's pretty good! In terms of quality, I'd probably compare it to something like the Green album, very poppy with some catch stuff, but not very derivative from the formula.

Yeah, it's leaked and it's brilliant. I agree with the Green comparison, it's a fun, short pop album, although it's way more diverse (and let's say it, better) than Green. There are definitely some weird/cool moments here, like the key changes on Summer Dori and Drunk Elaine or the chord progression in some parts on Endless Bummer. Jacked Up sounds just like Raditude would if it wasn't shit, I'm really happy about that one. Also the lyrics are surprisingly pretty great, especially considering how awful the song titles are  Reviews have been good (there's no way Pitchfork is giving more than 6.5/10 to a Weezer album, not even EWBAITE got that far) so far so they must be feeling fine about it. I don't know if I'd rank it above EWBAITE yet but we've got two arguably great Weezer albums in a row in the 2010s, which is something I didn't expect.

Also those comments on the Black Album were apparently true.

Summer Elaine is one of my favourites on it, the production reminds me of a slightly less raw Francis Farmer Will Have Her Revenge on Seattle. The Pitchfork review was a weird read, because despite saying it was substantially worse than EWBAITE and panning it generally, it only got like 0.3 points less!

Well, if there's a black album, let's hope it's heavy as fuck

The album is really cool, I agree with you, Jay, Summer Elaine is great! Summer feel is all over the record - (Girl We Got A) Good Thing stands out for me on that front. So, Weezer's days of average albums like Hurley are over, hopefully  White Album shows promise and this me want the up-coming "Black Album" more, because it seems like it will be the closest record in sound to Pinkerton since... well, Pinkerton.
Oh, and Cuomo's writing is very good on the White

Nice little review. White could end up being my summer album, after last year's Magic Whip 8-)

I tweeted that the black album cover should be a spoof of Metallica's Black Album cover haha

If we talk about the black album, maybe they'll make one! A joke that turned into an album!

Just came back from their Manchester gig. Brian sang You Gave Your Love To Me Softly and they played non-Shack EWBAITE songs. It was great and I don't think I'll ever be able to be happy again without going to a Weezer concert every week.

I'm absolutely devastated I couldn't go. How are the White songs sounding live?

They pulled off a Blur and only played 5 of them (the five singles really) but they sounded great, California Kids is a great set opener, L.A. Girlz and DYWGH were highlights imo and everyone sang along to TGFG and KotW. They had been playing and rehearsing The British Are Coming lately but they swapped it for Troublemaker because Weezer, but at least they played Cleopatra and The Wasteland (in which Scott played his double-neck guitar-bass monster). It was one of the best shows I've ever seen and Rivers mentioned that he was sorry for not playing in the UK for years and promised to go back as soon as possible, so you may get a chance to see them this year.
