Not a strange choice at all.
In the mid 90s, some "ignorant" people here used to say that Blur were gay music, music for gays, etc. Maybe they only knew G&B (?).
Anyway, for me they are The Beatles of the 90s-2000s, so it's not a strange choice of a fave band imho.
