Re: Syd Barrett

Yes, that's interesting. I've just found out that Graham described Berserk as a mesh up of No Good Trying, No Man's Land, Baby Lemonade, and Late Night. Now I'm very animated and I will try to check the albums out soon.

Syd Barrett

I'm an avid Pink Floyd listener since quite a time, but I never had real contact with Syd Barrett as a solo artist. I just read that he was a key influence for Blur. Did they ever mentioned any closer songs or an album? What could be a good start to listen to him?

Re: Graham's solo tour 2018

Yes, the Adventure Club Session was the only time they played it properly, beside from a gig in Japan at the end 1993 (if the setlist is right): http://www.vblurpage.com/gigography/1993/1118_onair.htm.

But all in all, it i amazing that he played this one, as it is one of my favorite MLIR tunes.

Re: Damon's voice through the years

As it was mentioned that Damon's voice has changed due to smoking, what's about Graham? I guess that he is a smoker since Blur's career has started. But I think that his voice hasn't changed realy, beside the fact that he's more older now.

Re: Blur Picture Thread

Just a few pictures from the backstage of the Metropol club in Pittsburgh, USA where Blur performed at the 20th September 1997. These old HTML sides got plenty of interesting photo material. http://www.oocities.org/sunsetstrip/cabaret/4266/gc_n_smoggy.JPG http://www.oocities.org/sunsetstrip/cabaret/...

Re: The Beatles Thread

The electronic beats (?) and the synthesizer-press-kit background vocals are very annoying. The other single, Come One To Me, sounds more solid to me, so I hope that he will at least make the sound of the whole LP more like on New a few years ago. This was an acceptable record.

Re: Blur landmarks in London

Thanks! The trip to the UK was great, especially because of the great wheater and the sights. As for Colchester, the countryside around the city in Essex is very great (reminds me a bit of the Chemical World clip). The town itself seems to be a very typicaly British town with a long high street and ...

Re: Blur landmarks in London

I'm going to spend my holidays next week in Essex, so I hope that I can figure out some new locations. There must be The Cups hotel, where the art school crowd used to hang out and the old pub's they visited while they still lived there.

Req: Wanted live recordings

Hello there, I'm looking for two special live recordings of Blur shows at the moment. Both records should exist, but I could not find them so far. The first one is an early 93 show from Washington Hights, Reading from 25th May 1993. It includes several MLIR songs and the soundcheck as well. Second o...

Re: XTC

The No. 1 is interesting. I guess that a lot of people were rather amused with Big Express, and especially with the drum computer sounds of some songs. But 'Wake Up' and 'I Bought Myself A Liarbird' are appreciable tunes.

Does anybody got a copy of this early 1997 promotional gig? Includes 'refreshed' versions of Colin Zeal and Commercial Break.

Re: general blur thread

I recently saw the tour dates of Blur's first US tour in late 1991, managed by SBK. But there is a big "black hole" in the dates. They performed at Washington DC on the 3rd November, but had a gap to the next gig at the 10th November at Chicago. Where there any gigs in between? Or was it part of the...
