Re: Rock & Folk interview
He's not wrong, Gorillaz is going to irritate me more than ever as he rushes to get Blur out of the way yet again...and Everyday Robots was very poor... anyone else feel like damons comendable work eithic, and rate of musical output has reduced his overall quality? or is that something that has com...

Re: Blur on US TV: The Tonight Show w/ Jimmy Fallon 30th Apr
Probably the worst choice of song from the album they could've done on American TV...totally plays into the mainstream US music stereotype that British bands are faggy wankers who don't rock. Lonesome Street, Go Out, or I Broadcast would've been FAR better choices for US TV. Hell, if they wanted to...

according to their rating system - http://www.metacritic.com/about-metascores - B- translates to 67...christ I know way too much about this. Time to go outside!SeverHense wrote:Anyone know why metacritic has The AV Club's score listed as a 67 when on actual review page, it got a B-?

Re: The Magic Whip Reviews
Lindsay Zoladz is the one who reviewed Blur 21 for pitchfork - more than any other music writer I can think of, she really "gets" Blur. Great review. He's So High wrote:Wow, that's a really nice review from Vulture.

Re: The Magic Whip Reviews
Indeed just saw this... Craig Jenkins is a New York based rap writer whose mad ramblings have been published by the likes of Pitchfork, Complex, Passion of the Weiss, Mass Appeal and more. Get back to your C(rap) imo! Never going to be a great review then, stitch up job! there's nothing wrong with ...

Re: The Magic Whip Reviews
for all the hand-wringing over Pitchfork, the AV Club review was actually way worse. Ghost Ship sounding like Jack Johnson...what the fuck?? Did we listen to the same album? Like, I'm legitimately concerned that reviewer torrented the album early and got a record full of Jack Johnson b-sides and doe...

Re: The Magic Whip Reviews
funny how they put a guy who only reviewed Hip-Hop records, i think that a 7.5 would be sufficient, but this is really low compared to the Blur 21's scores. yeah, this guy clearly doesn't really know or care much about Blur, and since this is an album that requires some context in order to really m...

Re: The Magic Whip Tour
I've heard chatter from People Who Know Things that a gig in LA is coming eventually, so I think we can expect some kind of US tour. I'd be surprised if they venture outside of the the big 4-5 cities, but we'll see!

Re: The Magic Whip Reviews
So we've got a bunch of big American ones still to come, probably tomorrow: Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, Allmusic, AV club...is it weird that I'm a little anxious for them all to be over with?

Re: Predict first week Uk sales for the Magic Whip
One related issue to all this is that I can't remember a time when Blur put so much effort into promoting the new album (here in the UK at least) - they've been on tons of major TV shows and radio stations. Guess after all these years, they still want to have as big a commercial impact as possible,...

Re: Blur on US TV: The Tonight Show w/ Jimmy Fallon 30th Apr
they should play:
1) a real loud, thrashy version of I Broadcast.
2) Pyongyang
3) The Universal
I don't feel like a live version of Lonesome Street or Go Out is the best way to introduce millions of people to Blur.
