Re: A.G. Cook's Beetlebum cover

Cook is currently Charli XCX's Creative Director and has executively produced her last four projects: Number 1 Angel, Pop 2, Charli and How I'm Feeling Now.

Re: Don't bomb when you are the bomb

I don't know what I was expecting, but at the time, the talk was all "is this the new direction Blur are taking?" etc. Plus they'd never released anything this weird shortly before an expected new single/album in the past. It was a very strange time to be a longtime Blur fan ! Definitely confusing....

Re: Don't bomb when you are the bomb

I remember a feeling if intense disappointment mixed with a feeling that something was very wrong within the Blur camp when it came out and I was soon to find out that I wasn't wrong... I also thought at the time (and still think) it just sounds like one of Damon's super rough, home demos without a...

Re: A.G. Cook's Beetlebum cover

The end of the song is interesting, I really don't like the vocals. I guess you have to start somewhere

Re: Don't bomb when you are the bomb

In terms of Blur Don't bomb stands out for being a real curio in a body of work full of curios. It's similar to Music is My Radar in that respect. But within the context of work Damon's done with Gorillaz it doesn't sound that out of place. At the time it still seemed possible that Blur would conti...

I think the song itself is weak, but the funky stuff at the end is amazing. I wish it had been put to better use.
Does anyone know how that sound is made? it's bugged me for years

Re: addiction and blur

The alcohol and substances were made available, and the recipents could ease-in to over-indulgence. It is inter-laced with touring and TV shows, and crossing time-zones between countries, meaning you may need to be awake when your body tells you otherwise. I mean, that's the real issue here not the...

Re: addiction and blur

From what I remember there were suspicions about Damon around 95/96 and obviously Beetlebum pretty much confirmed that. Correct me if i'm wrong but there used to be a sense of expectation/anticipation in pop culture that if you were famous enough there is no doubting that you would eventually be tak...

Re: the Good, the Bad & the Queen - the end?

I seem to be in a bit of a minority in preferring the second album to the first. I think it's really strong album from start to finish with not a weak track on it. I consider a good half dozen of the songs to be up there with Damon's very best work in the last decade easily. The second album is bet...

Re: Blur fan first and foremost or Damon Albarn fan?

I'm going to sound a little controversial but have damon's vocals on graham's guitar work had it's day? the bastille vocals feat graham coxon sounds so much fresher than anything we've heard from blur in the last decade

Re: Gorillaz - Song Machine

It sounds utter turd, hopefully the one they will release will be higher quality Do you mean from a production point of view? I have pretty bad tinnitus/hearing loss in one ear, I sometimes think it's a blessing that I can't hear every level of production perfection/imperfection. To me, this track ...
