Re: Blur and the Magic Whip (blog post)

A good read Mr Magpie!

I had just posted something similar in the main album thread about the impact this has had on me, so I can only say very well put!

Re: NEW ALBUM: The Magic Whip

Is anyone else just still totally buzzing about this? I've loved listening to all the new interviews, just listened to the Jo Whiley one, shame Graham didn't get Blue Jeans on! I'm loving the build up to a new album and tour again;loving the first song especially after listening to it through my hea...

Have to say, headphones take this song up a level for me, Alex's bass sounds fantastic!

Re: Ambulance

Great song, poor production on Think Tank didn't let it breath the way it should have done, live it was phenomenal! Same goes for On the way to the club.

Re: The Magic Whip Tour

I enjoyed both times at Hyde Park, and had no porblems with either the crowd or the sound. Maybe I was lucky. I will be there again. But what I hope for is for smaller venues and a proper tour after Hyde Park. It bugs me when people say the sound was poor at Hyde Park because I heard no problems at...

Re: The Magic Whip Tour

Was just going to wait for gigs in Scotland as done Hyde Park twice before, but now The Horrors are supporting seriously considering changing my mind. Love them and Primary Colours and Skying, the latter especially are two of my favourite albums. Last album wasn't so good, but desperate to see them.

Re: NEW ALBUM: The Magic Whip

I'm hoping the vocals and lyrics on it are the exceptions to the lazy/stream of consciousness/gibberish style he's used in Blur since 13. Even if it isn't, I'm still amped up like crazy for the album! Yeah, I agree, I find the songs with the nonsense lyrics harder to love and sometimes they just ou...

Re: Poll: How many Blur gigs have you attended?

4 times for me.

Glasgow Barrowlands 2003
Manchester MEN Arena 2009
Hyde Park 2009 & 2012

Hyde Park 2009 was the most special though. Just for the pure out pouring of joy.

Re: NEW ALBUM: The Magic Whip

I have to say I am really loving GO Out more and more the more I hear it. Musically it sounds so fresh, not 100% convinced by Damon's vocals on it, but it definitely excites me for the rest of the album.

Gene by gene?? I imagine that is one of the songs Damon is thinking of when he talks about the stinkers on Think tank.

Dreadful dreadful song!

Re: NEW ALBUM: The Magic Whip

^I agree, I've had my fill of 90% of the MLIR/Parklife-era stuff. Keep For Tomorrow, Girls and Boys, This is a Low, The Universal, and Chemical World, and nuggets like London Loves. Otherwise, focus more on TGE/Blur/13/TT stuff to flesh out the new album. Blur has a tradition of playing almost ever...

Re: NEW ALBUM: The Magic Whip

Wow, feel sick with excitement! Been waiting for this for so long, had totally given up on it happening, although I had harboured very faint hopes in the last couple of years that they might do a Bowie and drop an album on his, which they have kind of done. One thing I didn't like the sound of was t...

Re: Fool's Day/Under The Westway/The Puritan

I love Fools day and Under the Westway, the latter probably edges it for me. The Puritan not so much although I though it had great potential when I heard Damon play it accoustically, think they went the wrong way with it.

Re: "BLUR" Album turns 18 years

I've got a strange relationship with this album, I look at the track listing and I love a lot of it, but whenever I listen to it I never really overly enjoy it and it leaves me feelings kind of cold.
