Re: Girls and Boys reaches 100 million milestone on Spotify
Yeah it is quite curious to see Ghost Ship have more plays than both Country House and Beetlebum. They were number 1 singles!

Re: Gorillaz dream Collaborations
Kate Bush is so eclectic and brilliant, I'm sure she could bring something to Gorillaz. Bruno Mars. Just because he's one of the best pop artists of the past 10 years and I can imagine Gorillaz doing a really fun pop song with him. Janelle Monae. Same reason. Trent Reznor. He's a genius. Damon is a ...

Re: Damons acting debut
I'd describe his performance as passable. They clearly cast a famous pop star to help market the film to a younger audience. The trouble is, he was playing a teenage kid but he was about 29 at the time. Damon's natural speaking voice is quite deep and for some reason he made his voice higher to suit...

Re: Gorillaz - Song Machine
Song Machine has dropped from number 2 in its first week to number 33, just behind the re-release of What's The Story Morning Glory.

Re: Gorillaz - Song Machine
Ghost Ship has more than triple the plays of any of the other songs on that album on Spotify and half a decade after its release is still in the top 5 currently most played Blur songs. Mildly surprising that more people have listened to Ghost Ship than either The Universal or Beetlebum on Spotify. ...

Blur record sales update
So last week, Girls & Boys was upgraded from a silver to a gold disc in the UK (400,000 sales). Yay!
Great to have confirmation that people are still listening. I'd imagine this certification is from streams?
Do people even still purchase mp3s anymore?

Re: Gorillaz - Song Machine
Slaves are the best punk band to emerge from the UK in at least 25 years. They're huge Blur fans so this must have been a dream project for them.
Love the song.

Their last album Paper Gods was their best since the self titled "Wedding album", so quite looking forward to this.

Re: TGTBTQ: Merrie Land Album Thread
hi, thespider - I have been playing the original TGTBTQ album for the first time in twelve years. I think it has a slight edge over 'Merrie Land'. For me, the self-titled GBQ album is a 7.5/10. The title track is one of the best things Albarn has ever done. It's phenomenal. But yeah, it really seem...

Re: TGTBTQ: Merrie Land Album Thread
Why do you hate it? I just can't find a decent tune in almost all of it. It feels like Damon has gone for this really dainty, meandering and twee sound but the songs don't have strong enough melodies to pull it off. I still listen to the first GBQ album quite regularly but I'm really disappointed w...

Re: TGTBTQ: Merrie Land Album Thread
Sorry if I sound like a naysayer, but could someone tell me a song on Merrie Land that they rate as highly as anything on GBQ's debut?
I really want to like, I'm such a huge fan of Blur and Albarn but I'm actually hating this album.

Re: TGTBTQ: Merrie Land Album Thread
So is it just me who (so far) thinks that Merrie Land is dreary bollocks?
Four listens in and it's boring the tits off me. 6/10 at best.
