Re: Damon in Face

I went to the cinema to see it back in the day, and although he wasn’t in it that much I found it really uncomfortable watching him act. Blur were huge at the time in the UK and it did feel very weird and a strange decision on his part. I thought it was an average movie and pretty forgettable compar...

Re: TGTBTQ: Merrie Land Album Thread

It has become my dog walking album of choice 😀 Damon back at the top of his game.

Re: Blurd Tribute Band...

Just had a quick look at the 'A bit of a Blur' facebook page and the video for TNOW and very good, love the early Blur energy they put across, although the lead vocals are a little rough, but I'd be more than happy to go along and watch a covers band like this.

Re: gorillaz Brits 2019 nomination

A pointless nomination, they aren’t going to be given this 2 years running. Plus despite the release of TNN (great album) they only played over seas shows/festivals so to anyone within the Uk other than the fans, Gorillaz had no pressense here.

Re: blur official answering questions on answer.sh

The snapchat thing doesn't sound like them to be fair and I would normally dismiss this, but I still remember getting the TMW email from nowhere straight on the back of Damon's solo project. Despite some talk of further Gorillaz material I can't imagine it anytime soon and however much I love Merrie...

Re: TGTBTQ: Merrie Land Album Thread

I got the Hardback book/CD combo for Chrismas and I thought it was a pretty decent edition for £20, nice book and really pleased the chords are in this, although I haven't played these yet, I would have paid £20 for this even without the actual CD. I'd have went for the more expensive options to get...

Re: TGTBTQ: Merrie Land Album Thread

I agree about a Blur album done in a similar way to Merrie Land, with the focus on Britain and the same production, Damon's passion for his country and observations come through so well when he is writing about his own country. With regards to what Blur could have done with Merrie Land, I have to ad...

Re: Damon Noisey Interview

Great interview, I did once cringe at Damon’s interviews as they could be very awkward, but the ones recently have been very amusing, emotional and certainly thought provoking. Just seems a really nice person.

Re: TGTBTQ: Merrie Land Live Performances Thread

Does anyone know if the 2 bonus tracks have appeared online to download, other than being on YouTube. I would actually buy these if released separately but can’t justify the extra cost of the more expensive set so close to Christmas. St George and the Black Bird could so easily be a Blur song, maybe...

Re: TGTBTQ: Merrie Land Album Thread

I think despite Damon’s thoughts on the Brexit decision, his love of Britain and a sense of national pride still show through. It is more of a story of what may be, similar to that of Humanz (comparison ends there) but as many of the reviews have said this album has come at such a relevant time. As ...

Re: TGTBTQ: Merrie Land Album Thread

Just over two weeks on and I am finding more to love with each listen, as a band they are really in touch with each other musically, the 10 songs are all very different and now i’d struggle to put them in order of strongest to weakest, they all give me something different. Although the whole Brexit ...

Re: TGTBTQ: Merrie Land Album Thread

Wow... "Imperial" should have been on the actual album! It recaptured the true vibe/essence of their self-title! This really featured Tony at his absolute best! I'm conflicted on "St. George and the Blackbird"... It didn't go anywhere to me, but perhaps I need to listen to it more and it will soon ...

Re: TGTBTQ: Merrie Land Album Thread

Hopefully St. George and the Blackbird will appear to download, really like this track. I have purchased the download of the album and the Hardbook edition but can't justify shelling out more for this edition for bonus tracks alone, although I would have instantly before the wife came along... :(
