Re: The Magic Whip Reviews

My fear for the album was that the songs would follow UTW and the Puritan and be good but be Damon songs with the other three just playing along. The difference here is that the whole album or at least what we have heard and the live show feel like Blur in sound but still different as Blur should be...

Re: Favourite song out of the 3 officially released?

I really couldn't rank them they are all great but completely different. TATMOU took awhile to show itself to me but now I love and very hypnotic and emotional.

Re: What do you think of Lonesome Street?

I want to say 5 but as mentioned already it would have to be alongside Beetlebum, For Tomorrow etc but is so close, has to be a 4.5 and can sit amongst the classics as far as I am concerned.

their best! ;D
For me it certainly is feeling like it could be, can't believe none of this would have happened without Graham, what a legend. :)

Re: Lonesome Street

Had another listen and I now bloody love it, never though they would return to the Parklife sound and the great thing is the variety on the album, it's like trying to piece all the different styles I love about Blur and coming up with this album, is this some crazy wonderful dream were all about to ...

Re: Lonesome Street

Just downloaded off ITunes, great album opener and the studio version compares well against the live version. I had slight concerns it would be a little like the Everyday Robots comparison but this has Stephen Street on board so need to worry :)

Re: Secret London gig, March 20

Thanks so much Tom, what an amazing album, now after all these years I now understand Damon saying he didn't want to destroy the Blur legacy, this does not do that. Not a single bad track on the album and so much variety yet so Blur. Lonesome Street is a highlight for me, a cross between something o...

Thank you so much for this :) Can't listen now unfortunately as getting my young daughter to sleep but can't wait to listen later and share my thoughts.

Re: Rate "There Are Too Many of Us"

A 3/5 for me, certainly different, not loving the start but when the song kicks in it is certainly catchy, I feel it will be a grower and hopefully will slide in well with the rest of the album.

Re: There Are Too Many Of Us

Wow I can't believe how different it is to Go Out. It is growing on me on every listen just didn't expect the change in sound even tho I should be used to being surprised by now. Looking forward to hearing the album even more now although I like a few here don't want to have heard the majority of it...

Re: 13 turns 16!!

I really liked it on first listen back in 1999 but it took many years before it became my favourite Blur album or at least joint. For me the production was the problem but have grown to love what Orbit did with this although I am really pleased that Street is back, really really pleased :) The new t...

Re: NEW ALBUM: The Magic Whip

I love reviews that tell us nothing at all :) The point it does make about not loving it straight away is not a worry at all as I find most of Blur's music is multi layered and the fact hearing 'Get Out' still puts a smile on my face doesn't worry me at all, and 13 took years for me to love it too :)

Re: The Magic Whip Tour

I wouldn't worry about Blur not selling out Hyde Park, the difference between this and say 2012 is they have a new album release a couple of months before the show, I would imagine it would have an impact especially for those who saw them during the previous Hyde Park shows, as this will obviously b...

Re: Magic Whip, achievements

I think it's a good effort as an album teaser and not a bad single at all, if this is the the standard of the new album I will be very happy indeed as it sounds like where Blur left off as a 4 piece back in 1999. :)
