Re: The 'definitive' Think Tank

And yes, I'd keep Jets. Very underrated song, arguably one of Alex's best basslines. The sax was Blur going to a completely different place. +1 Agreed, Jets has been one of my favourite songs on the album ever since I first heard it. Simple adjustment for me: Swap out Crazy Beat & Gene By Gene for ...

Re: The Magic Whip Tour

I'm torn. I hate Hyde Park as a gig venue and it's £75 a ticket (!).....

..... but it is so tempting :?

Re: NEW ALBUM: The Magic Whip

Almost certainly the Hyde Park gig will be most of the new material + the hits: and to be honest, I don't really have a problem with that. So excited to see the new material live, that I can deal with the hits rather than a load of forum-pleasing b-sides and old album tracks.

Re: NEW ALBUM: The Magic Whip

The intimate venues and the "big gigs" definitely have different vibes, and I love Blur equally in both contexts - yet hate Hyde Park. What would be perfect is a big arena gig at (it's not very imaginative, I know) somewhere like The O2.

Re: Fool's Day/Under The Westway/The Puritan

Always though Fool's Day meandered and plodded along. Really should give it some more time. The Puritan - ok on the record, but live at Margate it was special. A song that truly came alive... hope they play it again in smaller gigs (would never have worked at Hyde Park though). For me, Under the Wes...

Re: NEW ALBUM: The Magic Whip

This might be wishful thinking, and there is absolutely nothing to substantiate this, but I wonder about the timing of the announcement and whether we might see a performance of Go Out at the Brit Awards next week. I hope not. Not sure the 2012 appearance was their finest hour. Oh god, don't remind...

Re: NEW ALBUM: The Magic Whip

Parklife the song has been done to death live though. Yeah just to clarify, I was on about the song, Live, with Phil Daniels. Can't bear another performance of it. Sorry to be a downer, but I just hope a few of these songs don't re-emerge at these gigs. They had their day. Sunday Sunday, Parklife, ...

Re: NEW ALBUM: The Magic Whip

"Ong Ong" - clearly Damon wrote a song called "Hong Kong", remembered he already had a song called "Hong Kong" so just dropped the H and K. ;) Absolutely love Go Out. Glad this finally came to fruition, was annoying to think that there was a week's worth of recorded material just sitting there doing...
