Re: Graham on new blur stuff...

Great read. Graham is such a lovely chap. It's funny how for latter day Blur he is the one who carries the flag most. Back in the mid to late 90s, when it all kicked off, he seemed to portray a bit of ambivalence towards the band being big superstars, before eventually leaving after a few years of r...

Re: The Great Escape

For me it's a snapshot of the time. Wouldn't change a thing, except maybe make the guitars a bit more loose. It sounds too controlled. But that's my opinion now, not 1995. Personally, I prefer the Budokan gig from 95 when listening to TGE era. It seems much more raw and darker. I still can't believ...

Re: Graham on new blur stuff...

...Surely there must be something in the pipeline. Considering how much TMW was concealed, this is quite the hint. Maybe some dates and possibly another Glastonbury headline!? An album is a push, but a run of dates is surely plausible. Mind you, anything planned for next year would need to be announ...

Re: The Great Escape

MOR just never really clicked with me for some reason. Just feel like it didn't really in any way expand on the idea that it borrowed from Bowie. 'Fantastic Voyage' and 'Boys keep swinging' are infinitely better songs and I know the idea wasn't to make it a one-up on the originals, but MOR really ju...

Re: The Great Escape

Aw I actually love Bang.. but it just failed so miserably at being a single.

Always just found Chemical World drags a bit and the chorus is a bit meh. I can see why it's actually a favorite among Blur fans though, just doesn't do it for me I'm afraid.

Re: The Great Escape

Well, it has all the ingredients of a Blur Britpop era single, but it's almost too try-hard, forced even. It just misses the target for a genuinely great pop song. Misses a certain spark, which can be said for Charmless Man too. Still, I love the groove of it and it's a very well arranged song. Just...

Re: The Great Escape

I think they sold a litle bit of soul when they made the album, they gave everyone what they wanted I think they did for 3 of the 4 singles. Stereotypes, Charmless Man and Country House are all a bit generic. Although I love Stereotypes. But aside from that, the rest of the album is definitely a pr...

The Great Escape

Going through a phase where TGE is my favorite Blur album... I was just wondering why exactly it is viewed as being a lesser album than Parklife? Even Damon seemed pretty dismissive of it really quickly after it's release. I'm personally struggling to find where the bad songs are. It feels like an e...

Re: B-Roads

Will someone just bloody leak this already :p

*Slowly opens can of worms*

In all seriousness, surely as the years go by the repercussions of someone uploading B-Roads to Youtube are becoming less and less.

Don't look back in anger

Anyone read the Daniel Rachel book on 90s cool Britannia? Heard him being interviewed this afternoon on 6 music. As you would expect, Blur feature a lot.

Favorite album for each individual member's input.

Not sure if I worded that correctly. You'll get the gist though... What is everyone's favorite performance for each member over all the Blur albums? Here's mine: Damon - I think his writing is probably the best balance of structured and experimental on Self Titled. 13 is more raw, I get it, but that...

Re: New Blur?

There's just no way to know.. I think if they are going to do something then they will just announce it when it happens, much like they did with TMW. No big build up or anything. They have nothing to prove now, making a bit thing out of it would make it look like they do. Was there any inkling befor...

Re: New release: Live at the BBC

Interesting.. He confirms that Blur activity is purely schedule dependent and it's not a case of anyone in the band objecting to it.
