Re: Blur remasters

Yes, I used to think it was only remaster, until I noticed this difference on For Tomorrow. Hence my question... Would there be any other minor mix differences like that one?

Blur remasters

Hey. Has anyone noticed any differences (apart from the mix, obviously) between the original CD issues of Blur's albums, and the versions on the 21 boxset? I know for example that the remastered For Tomorrow comes with some synth strings on the ending which were absent on the 1993 version, surely th...

Re: What films have you seen lately?

No wonder, Goldfinger IS the best Bond film. The golf scene, the torture scene, "Do you expect me to talk? No, I expect you to die", all those are just legend. I love From Russia With Love a lot too. Its soundtrack is really good (best soundtrack of all imo is You Only Live Twice ). The suitcase, th...

Re: What films have you seen lately?

Yes, Moonraker is quite bad, and never should have been, actually: at the end of The Spy Who Loved Me , the credits say "James Bond will be back in For Your Eyes Only ". But that was in 1977, and then Star Wars came out, so the Bond production felt the need to jump in the space film wagon, and they ...

Re: What films have you seen lately?

I will admit, I have not seen any of the old Bond movies. But regardless of how good and charming some might be, no Bond movie will ever top Craig's Casino Royale. That film is an undisputed masterpiece. Not a bad one, but imo, Craig's best is definitely Skyfall , which ranks easily amonst the top-...

Re: What films have you seen lately?

I've always been a big fan of Sean Connery's Bond films. The best ones, imo. I'd say Diamonds Are Forever is his least good, tho (his comeback), and as for Never Say Never Again , if you haven't seen it, it's a remake of Thunderball (it is an "unofficial" James Bond film). Unfortunately, the Bond pr...

YES! ^ This is what I wanted on the album, but got some mellow lo-fi biz instead. Thanks Orbit  Street would have turned it into a single.
tbh, I cannot hear any difference between this live version and the CD version, except the prod. Set aside that, same song, same thrill.

Re: gram cracker techniques

Ouch. I never quite analysed the riff for Explain ... Here's what I can come up with right now: |---------------------------| |------_--------_-------_---| |-----3-0------3-0---4-4-0--| |-----3-0------3-0---4-4-0--| |---------------------------| |-3-3-------1-1----2--------| I think it should basica...

Re: gram cracker techniques

Another example with this kind of technique would be the riff for On Your Own . Incidentally the first Graham part I ever learnt to play, mooooons ago. |-----7----0---2---------| |--__-7---_0---2---------| |-7878---01----3---------| |--------------4---------| |------------------------| |------------...

Re: gram cracker techniques

Really offhand, the riff for French Song should be: |----------------------| |----------------------| |-----------------_----| |----------------6-4---| |-4-6-6-4-6----6-----6-| |----------------------| Where I indicate a left hand pull-off with the underscore. It's possible that he plays a quick ham...

Re: The Great Escape

Never ever would I remove Ernold Same from the The Great Escape ; maybe not the best track, but in my opinion it is the epitome of the spirit of the whole album. Agreed with JackS, I would replace Top Man by Ultranol , and possibly Charmless Man (a bit over the top) by, let's say, St Louis . One thi...
