Re: XTC

The No. 1 is interesting. I guess that a lot of people were rather amused with Big Express, and especially with the drum computer sounds of some songs. But 'Wake Up' and 'I Bought Myself A Liarbird' are appreciable tunes.

Req: Supper Club, New York 11/3/1997

Does anybody got a copy of this early 1997 promotional gig? Includes 'refreshed' versions of Colin Zeal and Commercial Break.

Re: general blur thread

I recently saw the tour dates of Blur's first US tour in late 1991, managed by SBK. But there is a big "black hole" in the dates. They performed at Washington DC on the 3rd November, but had a gap to the next gig at the 10th November at Chicago. Where there any gigs in between? Or was it part of the...

Re: Music is my radar

Did they earned the status of "veterans" in the UK already in 2000? I know that they are heroes there, but in the location where I life, the group is for most people a good rock group, but not that praised like Radiohead. Did the release of 13 helped to gain that status in the late 90s? For me, Musi...

Re: MrMagpie's Music Book Reviews

The review is very nice. I also enjoyed your portraits of Blur and Graham.

As for the Beatles, do you know the German book "Die Beatles - Geschichte und Chronologie" ("The Beatles - History and chronology") It counts down information for every day the band existed.

Re: Blur song facts

Badgeman Brown was planned to be a moderat chart hit, but never gained big attention.

And the distorted dialog at the end of Theme from Retro was Damon, talking to a bouncer outside a club during Blur's US tour.

Re: Best era to see Blur live?

Well, in spite of all the misery around, you can be damn happy to enjoyed this rare choice of songs. If Blur would come back, they should add some gems to the setlist like at this gig. :)

Re: Best era to see Blur live?

Ah, sorry for my mistake. Besides all the personal troubles, do you remember that they peformed Fried? The setlist of this gig seem's to be amazing. The changes of Blur's setlist is one of the things which made them to such a good live act

Re: MTV Unplugged - Blur

I always realy enjoyed their acoustic performances like on Ray Cokes show. But MTV Unplugged became a rip off in the last time. In the area where I live, it is just a good possibility to earn money for old rock stars. But Blur could realy fit it in with a general acoustic set, because a lot o...

Re: XTC

Allright. I am always a bit critical with the later works of some groups. But at least you can say that Andy is one of the big "forgotten" masters of pop songwriting. So I will give a listen to it.

One Born Every Minute was written by Damon straight after For Tomorrow, or not?
