Re: Superstate by Graham Coxon

Sad how Graham doesn't just release a proper album - maybe he doesn't want to tour small venues, and feels releasing a proper album would mean he'd have to. Soundtracks, mediocre covers band and now a fucking comic? The Soundtracks are attached to critically acclaimed shows that will bring his musi...

Re: Gorillaz dream Collaborations

Thom Yorke for me and I always thought you could do something freaky with Alex Kapranos vocals Also how have we never had a Gorillaz feat blur or Gorillaz feat Graham Coxon, I thought that would be a good opportunity for everyone Graham's been featured on two Gorillaz songs, Submission and Magic Ci...

I didn't listen to Egypt Station after hearing one of the singles. Terrible. Hoping this will be better.
Fuh You! It was not reflective of the album.

Re: Damon Albarn hints at future Gorillaz collab with Paul McCartney

Specially McCartney II have some proto-Gorillaz moments. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QAnNgCsNMnk Check My Machine and Secret Friend should be the obvious links to Gorillaz. Most of the planned double album for McCartney II was very forward thinking. I know his solo career quite well and I mostl...

Re: Damon Albarn hints at future Gorillaz collab with Paul McCartney

I've got to say I have no time for Paul McCartney either, same for Peter Cook. You'll never be able to change my mind that's just my opinion Depends on whether you opinion is informed (you know his work as solo artist very well and you still don´t like it, whis is perfectly fine) or not (which is p...

Re: Gorillaz - Song Machine

My god, I'm in love with the bonus tracks. Perhaps Simplicity is the only track I don't care that much about, but even that has its moments. The production and instrumentation on this album is amazing. And all the guest appearances are spot on. Damon's done it. Simplicity is now my favourite of the...

I genuinely hate Paul McCartney, the guy is an absolute c**t
Can I ask why? Paul, after Damon, is my second favourite musician. There are genuinely a lot of misconceptions about him, like Damon in fact.

Re: Gorillaz - Song Machine

Went in at #7 on the global album chart with first week sales of 73,000. So about 25% sold in the UK. 248,000 for B Springsteen. www.mediatraffic.de/albums.htm Pretty disappointing compared to the Humanz (260k),the Now Now (129k) and Magic Whip (124k). Damon's Every Day Robots even got 65k in its f...

Re: Gorillaz - Song Machine

Coldplay are clearly very sharp operators but they have world class management and business brains in the background. I'm not sure Damon has always benefitted from the same calibre of advice. Coldplay took the U2 route, they relentlessly toured, especially the US, to take advantage of their success...

Re: Gorillaz - Song Machine

Depends where we define hit, but Damon is widely considered to have written Elastica's debut album. Although I don't think this has been confirmed on the record. I think he helped write a few songs, but it seems to be an exaggeration that he wrote the entire thing. Those rumours always seemed a lit...

Re: Blur record sales update

Thanks - any idea about who wrote the music? Like all Blur songs, music is credited to all four. Probably one of the reasons why the band are still on really great terms. Alex and Dave probably benefited a lot from Damon and Graham on that one as I imagine most of the music came from them or could ...

Re: Gorillaz - Song Machine

Got around to listen to the bonus tracks. Way too experimental with little-to-no involvement from Damon. I'm glad they weren't included in the primary track-list, otherwise the album would have been too long and convoluted. Damon does not have to be the main vocalist, or even a backing vocalist, fo...

Re: Gorillaz - Song Machine

This is really interesting thank you. I didn't know there was a way to analyse YouTube accounts. Gorillaz (and Arctic Monkeys and Radiohead - obvious contemporaries) all have a B+ rating, Coldplay are A-. I would have thought it would be more like Gorillaz A- and Coldplay A or A+. Who is popular en...
