Re: Is Blur a strange choice of favourite band!?

When you ask someone their favorite band I think there's kind of two types of people: 1. People who pick a currently popular band that they like because they've never really explored outside of current music before. 2. People who pick a "classic" answer, like The Beatles or Radiohead or Pink Floyd. ...

Re: Alt-Blur

I think Damon would have made the same demos but they'd have been finished by the rest of the band. I think Music is my Radar is a good indication of what it would've sounded like. And imo it's SIGNIFICANTLY more developed musically than the first Gorillaz album. Something else I've noticed is that ...

Re: Blur interview in The Guardian (Kanye West etc.)

I think there are more people that agree with Graham's sentiments than disagree. I'm surprised that this is a big deal. :?

Also, in my browser the article title shows up in the tab as:

Blur: 'We used to take it in...'

Now THAT's an interview I'd like to read!

Re: Battle

Heroin is inherently addictive so it's not really possible to use it and not become addicted to it. The way he's described it, heroin was being used openly and frequently in his home, and he felt the pressure to participate and did. And the way he's described his life, the normal stress of being a n...

Re: Alex: "I'd love an Oasis reunion, they can support Blur"

Alex is getting himself into trouble again.

Oasis will "support" Blur?

Also, "Liam was really kind too - but I've always liked Liam." Didn't Liam specifically dislike Alex?

Re: Caravan - song meaning

I haven't thought much about the lyrics but looking at them it might be the band's situation. I'm not super familiar with what was going on at that time though, so this might be totally off. "Caravan is lost, In the sun and the dust" The band is lost "No-one loves you, When you are lost" The public ...

Re: My Terracotta Heart - Alex's baselines...

The first time I listened to the album the bass on that song was one of the highlights, and I was bummed to find out it wasn't Alex, although after listening back to it again it did kind of have the sound of being done by a guitar player rather than a bass player. And good either way.

Re: My Terracotta Heart - Alex's baselines...

This was the one where Stephen Street did (according to the XFM interview) a temporary "dubby bassline" which Graham redid himself. So the bassline on the record is Graham's, and what is played live is presumably what Alex would have done himself. Which makes sense since that bassline is probably th...

Re: The Magic Whip Commercial Expectations

However good the sales numbers are in comparison to other albums, it really drives home how little money they (and other bands) make off albums. I mean the album sells for $10-15, the label and sellers take a big chunk of that, and then it's divided up among blur. If an album sells a few hundred cop...

Re: What's your Blur story?

Great stories here! Mine is so much simpler. Somehow in high school when I was visiting Toronto (I'm from Detroit) I bought the self titled album, along with a Pixies album. I don't remember why and I don't think I was aware of Song 2 being on it. I liked it but not enough to look into it more until...

Re: Who's your favourite Blur?

If I had to actually pick one to be friends with it would be Dave since we share some hobbies and interests, and because he's the most easy going. The way Graham puts himself out there and shows that he cares about the band and the fans and music is greatly appreciated, and he's such a great guitari...

Re: What do you want Blur to play on the Magic Whip tour?

I'd like Fools Day, Under the Westway, and The Puritan to be included (not necessarily all, but one or two).

Otherwise I want them to play mainly the new album, plus some other songs that are sympathetic to the current ones, especially b-sides.

Re: Alex's best bassline

Does anyone know of any interviews or videos where he talks about his bass playing? The only one I know about is where he teaches you how to play Song 2 and says that it was easy.
